Is it true that if I were to contract HSV-2 orally I would likely have
zero or one outbreaks and then would be protected from contracting
genital HSV-2? This seems like a pretty decent scenario. Getting herpes
in a form (location) that protects me from contracting it genitally
while at the same time eliminates my risk of transmitting it to others
seems like an ideal situation. How far off am I?

How do you propose to get hsv 2 orally?  That's not an easy thing.

Statistics say you will have few outbreaks.  However, we've had people here
with oral type 2 and it has been just awful for them.  As I keep saying,
statistics mean nothing when we are discussing individuals.

And you can still transmit it to others.

And you can still get it genitally if your immune system is not up to par.

I TOTALLY agree Ar... which is why I don't understand why people get caught
up in stats as much as they do... it can be quite irritating at times.

As long as it can be transmitted by even one person and all it takes is one
time that's statistical enough for me... which is another reason why I never
understood why the stats are soooo important to some people.

Oh sure I can understand people wanting to know how much better it *might*
make things for the non-infected partner but that doesn't mean the
possibility doesn't exist that they will never ever contract it... ya know?

Yup... and we aren't always going to be 100% healthy all the time... you
just never ever know what life has in store for you... ya know?

First of all ~ oral herpes type-2 is not very common. Is it possible... sure
it's possible... just not very common.

When it comes to herpes nothing is a for sure thing... which is why I never
understand why people take things this far?

Oh well... hope everybody is having a nice weekend.
