Different STDs are different, but almost any of them can be had
without the owner knowing about it. Chlamydia can enter the system
with few or no symptoms, especially in women. Gonorrhea, too. Most
people with herpes don't know they have it.
However, thirteen years is a long time. Herpes is one thing, and it
can be in the body for years unnoticed, and it won't really make a
difference in the long run (all other things being equal), but
chlamydia or gonorrhea or some of the others, can cause some real
damage if left untreated for that long. I forget what they can do but
there can be some real consequences, which is why people are so loudly
warned to have regular checkups and screenings.

I believe almost any STD can be transferred orally, though from my
experience oral cases of things like chlamydia and gonorrhea are
fairly rare. Of course, oral transfers of herpes are not rare at all,
being one of the most wide spread human viruses on the planet.
Do you know if it is Chlamydia? Or herpes? Has either of them been
transferred to you? Have you spoken to her doctor? It's difficult to
establish infidelity without being sure of the disease.
Hope it's not what you think it is.

Hi
My STD expert says that any STD can be located orally as well as genitally.
So, s'pose that means it can go either from oral to genital or genital to
oral during the appropriate sex act. And kids think oral sex is "safe"!
Hah!
And, I'd also think that if it's located orally, then if it's the right kind
of bug that can transfer via saliva, then kissing, *sharing spit* somehow
with an infected person would put one at risk of catching it that way.
However, at that point, it'd not be an STD, doncha know. The powers that be
may still classify it as such, but in order to be "sexually" transmitted,
there'd have to be some kinda sex going on, IMHO. And of course, as all my
posts, this is simply my *dude with herpes* opinion. No medical training
here!
