Hello,

my father-in-law (75 yr old) got shingles rash in 2 spots. He has a
large rash on his left palm, 3-4 small mosquito-bit-like marks spread
along his left arm all the way up to his shoulder and another mark (not
burst, though) on his forehead.

The doctor said that the spot on the forehead is not a good sign
because it's not on the same nerve (or is it dermatoma) that caused his
left-arm rashes and it could indicate something serious like cancer.

Does the good doctor know what she is talking about or is she trying to
cause panic for no good reason?

My father had shingles on the top of his head.  And beyond that, I have no
further knowledge.  I suggest a second opinion with another doctor before
jumping to conclusions that could be so scary.

Take care,

I tend to go with the docs unless I know better. And in this case, I
have no clue. She's the one there and looking straight at it. I'm
assuming some sort of culture type test was done to determine for sure
it's Zoster and not Simplex. The cancer connection is new to me
though. Not saying she's wrong, I just haven't heard of it before.
