shesand - 19 Mar 2006 20:02 GMT Al, keep us updated and good luck! I usually had better luck when I told someone early on in the relationship rather than waiting.... Anyway....good luck!
Al - 20 Mar 2006 04:41 GMT Hi All,
Well date # 2 went well. We went out to a movie to see the movie Firewall. We are planning on going to Chili's this Tuesday night and then on the coming Saturday she said she's going to make dinner for me and I can pickup a DVD rental. We'll see what comes next... :o)
I guess we are officially dating. So the next step is "seeing each other"? I am so happy I met someone who is so okay with herpes the way she is, its really a good feeling. I find it is also better to tell someone right away rather than not. They either except you or not, and if they don't its their loss, thats the way I look at it.
shesand - 20 Mar 2006 04:49 GMT I'm sooo happy for you Al! I'm glad that it's going good for you!!!

I'm just now reading posts of a couple months ago so it's all new information to me. Since mid-Dec I've been up to my ears and haven't been around here at all until the other day. That's as long as I've been away since I've been here I think. The time went by before I realized it. M2

What's the word down in those parts. Are people still living in tents?
*Hugs*
Angela
M2slo2cht@nospam.invalid - 23 Mar 2006 19:19 GMT >Are people still living in tents? Yep, quite a few. Mostly though, it's FEMA trailers parked in the driveways while the homes are being rebuilt. That's slow, almost non-existant progress though, so far. Most of our pre-Katrina population seems to have just left the area for other parts of the country. They being replaced temporarily by contractors and volunteer help from all over the place living in what hotel rooms that are left (17,000 rooms before, up to 5,500 now), plus rental housing where they can find it, and sleeping under their trucks until something comes available. Don't know where we'd be without volunteer help from every state in the Union plus Canada, Mexico, and others. There's a Disaster Relief team here from France, and get this... also from Haiti !! :-D All here workin' their butts off. The North Carolina Baptist Men's Convention alone has 1100 volunteers working here. I think that's half of North Carolina! LoL! It's gonna be a long long road back, and it'll never be the same, but at least we're goin' SOMEwhere.
{{{hugs}}} back ;-)
... and so as not to hijack the thread, Good Luck Al :-)

>Whooo Whooo - Mike has a new girlfriend! That's AWESOME. He deserves some >happiness. Oh Yeeeah! Yep, me and the little woman have been treating ourselves like a hot item for more than a *year* now. You can probably thank the two of us for single handedly driving up the cost of gas across the country as we relentlessly burned up the miles commutin' into each other's arms. In fact, the subsequent relentless partings, of which much sweet sorrow is said to result, became so unrelentingly sorrowful that I just bought a house within a few minutes drive of the sweet thang and we are now getting to know each other in ways never before thought possible. It just keeps getting better and better. We met on MPwH, by the way.
Take care, y'all,
Mike

Congrats on hangin' in there though. Guess I should fess up, I helped give the price a bump myself. Must have been about the same time period as yours. But my LDR didn't hold up so well and went down the chute just recently. 400 miles and 6 hours was just too much. Met her on Match ;-) Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not lol! oh well, back to the meet & greet circuit. NEXT!! M2

But my LDR >didn't hold up so well and went down the chute just recently. 400 >miles and 6 hours was just too much. Sorry to hear it, M2. Me and the svelte and lithesome K_ were but 100 miles or two hours driving time apart, and were able to make the trip two to three times a week. I put 25,000 miles on the truck in the year. If the distance had been greater it would have imposed a much greater burden on getting to know each other, but exactly where a good thing has to give way to physical realities I dunno. I consider myself lucky in all respects on this one. Word is that she does, too. ;-)

I was wondering if I'd run into you at one of the events, and K_ and I were trying to attend one or two here and there, but eventually we concluded we weren't really having that much fun in those settings so our future precences at such will be rare. See you on the internets, then!
Take care and good luck,

I've enjoyed the seminars mostly. But not many events have them anymore. Indy has done away with theirs, Daytona was a one shot thing, Houston will have one in April though. I'll try to make that one. The party part can be fun but ya burn out after a few. I'm thinkin' Houston will probably be my one and only for this year. Maybe my last, I dunno. But we may bump into each other yet, ya never know.

M2slo2cht@nospam.invalid - 29 Mar 2006 22:44 GMT >they don't have the same people putting the Indy Gathering >together any more. ^^^Understatement ^^^ They don't even have anybody from *Indiana* putting it together anymore :-( When the chief planner and instigator of the original "gathering" idea stepped down after... how many years?... 6-7 whatever... nobody picked up the ball to run with it. Who can blame them. It takes an incredible amount of planning, organizing, idea sparking, leadership and w-o-r-k to make something like that so successful. So with that date open in June, one of the Atlanta party organizers, along with somebody in Illinois, stepped up to just throw a simple bash that weekend. No one is claiming it to be like the original "Gathering" that started it all though. From what I understand, there's just NOT anyone that can pull that off for a widely diverse crowd. So those days are gone with the wind. It should be a good weekend for the serious party peeps though. Those Atlanta party organizers are specialists and have the party part down pat! ;-)

I'm closing my DSL account today, though, and am not planning a connection at my new home for the foreseeable future. I'll still check in from my sweetie's home, though, about half the week, I figger.
And thanks for your support! ;-)

Al - 22 Mar 2006 06:32 GMT Hi everyone,
Well the dinner at Chili's went well, so dinner at her house is next. I'll probably have to postpone the dinner at her house because there was a death in my family as my grandmother has died today. I know she only has oral herpes, but she is very okay with me having genital herpes, so I'm not sure what that means. I havent asked her if she has anything else, but I will before we get more close. Whats the best way to ask that question?
Al
grant - 22 Mar 2006 13:14 GMT Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

> Hi everyone, > [quoted text clipped - 7 lines] > > Al shesand - 23 Mar 2006 03:25 GMT I hate to hear that about your grandmother. I hope everything continues to go well between you and the girl.... talking about std's is never easy I don't think..no matter how you do it or how comfortable you feel with your partner. I wouldn't even know how to begin that conversation.
Angela S. - 23 Mar 2006 12:32 GMT > Hi everyone, > [quoted text clipped - 7 lines] > > Al Wow - When it rains it certainly pours. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother's death. That sucks. I wouldn't "ask her if she has anything else" but if it were me - I would make a "lets go get tested together" date before you do the deed.

Hi,
Yes it certainly does. My mothers dog and cat died last fall and now my grandmother. Since this all happened I am getting another OB and it was worse than usual so far. It must be stress? Great timing huh? Just before I am supposed to go to that womans house. I don't know if i have the guts to ask her about getting tested, but I have a feeling she may have genital herpes without telling me, because she is so okay about it.
I was thinking also of looking into a chiroprator for my back. The herpes nerve pain has been worse than ever in my lower and even upper back. My health insurance covers that, but not accupuncture. My family seems to frown on Chiropractors, and tells me I should look into a massuese. One question I have is do I have to tell the masseuse that I have herpes since they will be massaging the lower back? If I do tell them could I be turned down for backrubs?
Thanks, Al
