Hi Angel,
Sorry about your diagnosis.
Yes, it's typical to feel sore and tender for awhile afterwards. The outbreaks
will get much better, though. It just might take some time. If you're able,
take some over the counter pain meds to help.
You and your husband aren't the first people to accidently pass on type 1.
There's a lot of misinformation out there about herpes. I remember trying to
talk to someone about it but they were so sure their misinformation was correct
they simply would not listen to anything else.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I know I didn't know much about herpes before I got it either. I always
saw the commercial for Valtrex and I would always think, that will
never happen to me. I guess I was proved wrong. When I first got
herpes, it was the worst experience ever. I was getting outbreaks all
the time. I was misserable. Finally, my doctor put me on Valtrex
everyday and after a year or so of taking it every day, my outbreaks
weren't as often. Now, I'm off of the daily Valtrex and I don't have
outbreaks as often still. This past October made it 6 years that I've
had it.
