Hi Everybody -

A couple of weeks ago I started noticing this sores (kind of like
pimples) in my pelvic area. A friend of mine noticed this in the Gym
and mentioned that I might have Herpes so I decided to check out this
newsgroup for information and I have a couple of questions. Hopefully
somebody will be able to help me

a) I have been married for 10 years and I have been faithful during all
that time. Is it possible that  this virus was latent during all this
time and just now I am having these outbreaks?

b) My wife has only been with me so I think that means she could not
have been the one infecting me. Is this correct or she could actually
have been the one infecting me? (not trying to put blame, just trying
to figure out how I got this

c) As I mentioned, I have been faithful in the sense that I have never
had intercourse or oral sex while married. However, I have had "body to
body" massages. Is it possible to be transmitted in this way?

d) I am getting tested today. If the test comes back positive, how
often will I get these outbreaks? Is it possible that it will be
another 10 years before I have another one?

e) Finally, pray that the test comes back negative and that everything
was a false alarm

Yes.

If your wife has ever had a cold sore, then she could have infected you during
oral sex.

Skin to skin contact is what is needed for transfer.

Everyone is different so we can't answer that.

It's possible.

Something to keep in mind though.. just because your friend told you that
you *might* have herpes doesn't mean that you do. Have you been to the
doctor to have your symptoms confirmed?

Both of you might have herpes and both of you might not have herpes. You
need to be tested specifically for herpes if you are going to find out for
sure. Guessing is not going to help.

It's not likely that you contracted herpes in this way *if* you have herpes.
Also, if you or your wife have herpes that doesn't mean anybody has cheated.

Perhaps you can take some time to read the free herpes handbook over on
Terri Warren's site: www.westoverheights.com -- and that should give you a
pretty good perspective of how the herpes virus works.

Some people get outbreaks all the time and others do not. Some folks start
out getting outbreaks and then they diminish over time. Keep us posted on
your test results. Glad to hear you are going to be tested.

Good Luck,

Angela :)
