Hello,

I found that most of my outbreaks are caused by stress. Its kind of a
viscous circle because since I have had more problems with herpes, my
depression  and stress has increased, which in turn increases my outbreaks.
I am just starting to take a medicine called Effexor XR to limit anxiety,
depression and stress. I wonder if this will also limit my outbreaks since I
will have lower stress now? My girlfriend is also taking this medicine, but
she still has regular outbreaks.

It might, if stress is the actual trigger for your outbreaks.

Stress isn't a trigger for everybody. Her outbreaks may be triggered
by something else..... or there may be something else going on that
isn't at all obvious.

When outbreaks reach the point of being bothersome, and you've run out
of the natural remedies, you might reconsider suppression with an
antiviral.

Thats true. I am not sure if hers is from stress, but she is under alot of
stress also.

I don't really consider mine to be bothersome, just a little annoying. Its
more like some throbbing and then a tingle here and there then some pimple
like lesions that are mildly sore for a few days. I really don't have bad
OB's anymore, just frequent. Sometimes I just get prodrome and no lesions.
My girlfriend on the other hand is another story. She's often complaining
that her privates are burning or hurting for a week or more, but she doesn't
get tingling or throbbing like I get.
