Hello all,
I'm waiting to go to my moms house for Thanksgiving dinner, and right now
cooped up in my house, its cold, snowing and miserable outside. So I decided
to surf the web...
I heard somewhere that estrogen levels can increase the herpes activity in a
person. I'm a guy 39, but I have slightly elevated estrogen levels due to a
genetic problem, nothing serious, but just the way it is. I was wondering if
this could be a factor in why my outbreaks were a big problem early this
year? I mean right now I am not having the problems I was last spring. I'm
still getting frequent outbreaks 12+ per year, but they are less severe and
alot less painful all over. Are there any food that could increase a persons
estrogen levels that I could think about avoiding (if this is a probable
factor)? My testosterone levels are somewhat lower than they should be as
well. I know that women have a higher frequency of getting genital herpes
than men, but I thought that was due to a woman's anatomy not because of the
estrogen levels.
Thanks,
Al

I don't know about estrogen levels specifically. Though many women have
outbreaks around the time of their monthly cycles. But I think that's because
changing hormone levels causes stress on the immune system.
