I was diagnosed through a type-specific blood test... of course, i'm
not sure how that works.. all i know is that the doctor looked at it
and said 'yur tests came back neg except for one thing, herpes type
2."
I was expecting HIV.. so it was a total relif in a sense, but still
not so much. What was more peculiar is that she said I don't have Type
1, but only Type 2... now that's just stupid. Go figure.

Hey JetBlue!
I don't know with what tests or citations this can be backed up, but my STD
expert tells me that once you have HSV2 antibody in your system, it's a
pretty good block against ever getting HSV1 later in life. Seems that the
antibody to HSV2 is better at preventing a further infection with HSV1 than
visa versa. It's quite normal for someone who already has HSV1 to then get
HSV2, but the opposite is not the case.
Just lookin' for those silver linings...
