Would like to hear about trigger foods that you know for sure. Nuts seem
to be for me. Thought somebody once said eggs may be...thanks...Stan

Well I think some people are susceptible to arginine from certain foods
causing outbreaks. For me the trigger foods are coffee, peanuts, and
chocolate. If I go over one 14oz coffee per day and also eat chocolate and
peanuts in excessive amounts, chances are that I will have an outbreak in a
day or two. I never heard that about eggs, but I guess it makes sense since
meats and protein foods usually have a higher arginine ratio. I'm at the end
of an outbreak right now, and it started right after I had eaten a lot of
recess peanut butter cups last Sunday.

Hi Stan,

Al gave you the list of the usual food suspects.  However, I've never heard of
eggs as being a trigger.  I would think that if they are, it might be more of an
allergy??  Not sure.  But try going off all egg products for a month and see
what happens.

With me it was nuts, caffeine, sunlight, and stess. These triggers were well
corroborated because I used to get OB's ever 3-4 weeks. I really was
miserable. I was able to control it once I changed my diet.

John

P.S. Eggs are o.k.

Hi Stan,

Trigger Foods are possibilities..

Personally, there are no trigger foods for me.

You are more than welcome to read my herpes biography if you'd like:

Thanks for the replies.
I read most of your story. Good article. Choclate and peanuts are
trigger foods for me. I used to only have outbreaks about twice a year
but seems to have been worse the last few months with the hurricanes
down here in MS..I haven't told a doctor about the herpes , i have
probably had it for many years. I am divorced after 24 years of
marriage. Been divorced about 3 years...she just got remarried...haven't
told her either. Just recently admitted to myself i had it..life goes
on...Stan

Speaking of having it a while, I originally thought that I got it about 9
years ago, well I was putting two and two together and I think I contracted
herpes about 13 years ago! Things were calming down alot recently with 2-3
outbreaks a year until this past Feb that I ended up getting very frequent
ones to 1-2 a month, although finally that is getting a little better. I was
kind of like you and didn't tell someone I was in a relationship with,
because at the time I didn't know. Well I ended up giving her herpes, then
we broke up for another reason. Now we are still friends even based on the
situation! Now my girlfriend and I who both have herpes are not doing well.
Looks like we're breaking up, so now I have to go back to the embarrassing
"talk" when I meet someone eventually...

Thanks Angela,

Well I'm probably going to try to talk to one of my ex girlfriends, because
I was telling her about the breakup and she seems interested in me now. She
knows I have herpes, and she doesn't have it, but she's not afraid to be
with me anyway. Actually today I am going to talk to the priest, because I
want to talk about some things that are bothering me in life, some being the
break up and also herpes. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Stan,

It looks like you've been through a lot of stress.  That would contribute to the
strength of your outbreaks.

Hi Stan,

I'm glad you've got some support.  :)

Yes, even here in Florida it will be a bit chilly tonight.  :)
