Hi everyone,

I only get coldsores once in a great while, including right now. My aunt
swears by using Abreva, so I bought some and put it on the cold sores. Does
anyone know why it causes a permanent discoloration on the lips that look
black or purplish? Its annoying to me. I am mad that it took away the
natural red color on my lips.

Thanks,
Al

Um...I've never heard of that.  Did you just put it on your cold sore or on your
entire lip?  And I would think it would go away...

I've never heard of that either. The stuff is white and generally
disappears when you put it on. But don't be annoyed yet. Wait to see
if it works. If it does, it could turn lips plaid for all I'd care.

Oh no doubt its working, in fact the cold sore is healing in record time. I
know of people that have them 2-3 weeks before they heal, but with the
Abreva it heals in 1 week maybe. I know some people get cold sores all the
time constantly. I get them 2-3 times a year maybe. I wish my genital herpes
were that infrequent...not so! 2-3 times a month!
