Using Tea Tree Oil

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share a really good remedy that I was told about prior and
finally tried it. Today I bought some tea tree oil at GNC for $12.99. Its
kind of pricey, but it works pretty good so far. At first after I diluted it
in water and applied it to my genitals I noted a tingling sensation that
seems almost like one of the symptoms I get as part of the outbreak, but the
good news is after the tingling subsided, I had less burning and soreness in
that area then before. So far it seems to work.

If anyone has any ideas about the correct dilution percentage or if the
dilution should be water or oil please let me know.

Hi Al,

I'm glad this looks like it might be helping you.  I know that quite a few
people have had good luck with TTO for oral herpes.

I wouldn't want to put oil on sores on the genitals.  You don't want to keep
them moist - but allow them to dry out.  So, I would use water, I suppose.  I
don't know the percentages, either.

Oh and  you might want to ask Betsy over on Picking Up the Pieces about the
mix as she has used tea tree oil for various things I guess.

Okay thanks Angela and Ar,

I will check out PUP later on, because I wrote a message there also but
didn't have time to check it. Sometimes when I get sores in the genitals
that don't want to heal, I use Zinc Powder on them, which works pretty good
actually. Someone else in this group originally recommended that. As far as
the TTO it works pretty well. The past few days I was not too comfortable
down there so that's what prompted me to get it, but I'm doing better today.
I've also been taking Valtrex 500mg on and off, but I don't really see a
huge improvement with that either.

The reason why you aren't able to see or notice any type of an improvement
is because you are taking it on and off. If you are taking it on some days
and not on others then suppressive therapy doesn't work.

It's going to be VERY difficult for you to figure out how to deal with these
outbreaks if you continue to just try everything under the sun without
sticking to one thing at a time with some consistency.

And another thing, you've got to start taking antivirals immediately
upon realizing you're having an outbreak. Starting them after the
outbreak is underway might knock a day or two off the duration but
it's not nearly as effective as starting when you first realize you're
into a prodrome stage.
