Hello,
Does anyone have expereince with or knowledge of treating chronic
hepatitis C with a medicine called PK Mertz? The doctors have
prescribed it to a friend who lives in Europe and was a nonresponder to
interferon. Do you know if it is effective, whether it has side
effects, whether it is normal to use it for hepatits c treatment or any
thing else about it that might be useful?
Thanks,
P

PK Mertz is Amantadine. It has been tried in combination with standard
interferon therapy, but had little effect in most studies. Side effects
can be significant, and monotherapy with Amantadine is not effective
against HCV at all.
For more info, search for "amantadine hcv" at http://www.scirus.com/

I guess if it works for you, it's fine. You're post sounds a lot like a
promotion from a herb dealer tho. A few people here have done
amantadine{sp off probably]. I'm convinced that herbs help;
unfourtunetly even tx with interferon and ribavarin (while clearing the
virus) doesn't seem to make people feel better. It's like it lays low in
your bones and gives you a hey hey here and there..Spit into the wind
and it will eventually hit you in the puss. The beast always has the
deal and he plays with a marked deck . Fire on the Mountain run boy
