I am hep C positive and undergoing The pegasys and ribavirin 48 week
treatment program.

Does anyone know what the dangers are if I just stop taking the drug?

There is no danger in "just stopping" either the Peg-IFN or the Ribavirin,
aside from wrecking any chance of beating the virus...

If I had to stop the treatment... and started it again in a year from now...
would the medicne still have the same affect on me?

Most likely, yes, unless you currently are burdened with some other, transient
condition that is modifying the effects of the combo therapy.

How long have you been on-therapy?

I have been on treatment for 3 weeks, but I might have have to leave town for
a while and I will not be able to continue the treatments until I get back in
a year

Well, it'd be unfortunate to stop now and hope to start over again later. But
there's no medical problem with suddenly stopping either drug, and as long as
you don't put yourself in jeopardy (with your health or insurance coverage)
starting over again should be ok.

Note, however, that the longer you wait, generally the harder to achieve SVR.
