I suppose there are a lot of variables that could only be answered by
doctors - and even then they won't know all the answers.
However, cirrhosis can affect blood test results on items that
chemotherapy may make worse. If the liver is in a pretty bad way,
this can lead to low platelet count among other things. I believe
that chemo also lowers the platelet count. There are drugs than can
boost blood counts though they can have side effects of their own. So
long as the docs are aware of the cirrhosis, they will be checking the
blood counts anyway (I believe they are monitored regularly while on
chemo) so hopefully it will be possible to take a full dose of chemo.
Of course, if it's fairly early cirrhosis, these things may not be an
issue.
You really do need to make contact with those doctors. Although
people can say things on newsgroups, only the doctors can have
possession of all the facts.
