my ALT(alternatively,SGPT, Alanine aminotransferase) is higher than
normal, around 71 or even a little higher. but all the other related
medical indices are normal. what disease may this suggest?
thank you for your help.
best regards.

Sample , By you comming here you must think it may be hepatitis (C).
Have the tests run for c or anthying else you suspect or your doc may
suspect. You know your history . I assume you know something of liver
disease or why post here . On the other hand the first three letters of
assume are what, you (I) can make of myself by assuming. So dont assume
anthying if you suspect something get checked with the proper test .
Not a biggie. 1122

Elevated ALT is associated with liver inflammation but lots of things
can cause that.
In my opinion, testing for presence of HCV antibodies in blood serum
should be part of regular annual or bi-annual medical examinations. -bg

I suggest that request a referral to a liver specialist (hepatologist).
A high ALT score can be caused by:
hepatitis
cirrhosis
excessive caffein intake
excessive alcohol intake
medication overload or incompatilbility (side effects of a medication)
chemical toxicity (recreational, as well as prescription or excessive
over-the-counter drug.
Certain vitamins or herbs
High doses of Tylenol and related drugs.
