Hi all,
This came up in a recent discussion on a chat group in which I
participate.  Now I haven't read anywhere on line of this phenomemon, but
apparently intense pain from scarring deep in your tissues as a result of
injuries sustained long in the past, can develop while a hepper is on combo
treatment.
I had something similar to this occur when I was on hepper treatment, a
huge bruise emerged on the front of my right thigh.  I happened to be in the
clinic and mentioned it to the senior nurse in the small out-patient
treatment room.  She told me that interferon draws out deep brusing from
previous injuries or can irritate deep scar tissue the same way.  I did have
a rugby injury in that thigh from highschool days.
Has anyone a comment about this.  My hep doctor was silent about it (along
with a lot of other things)?

Stigmata???

Seriously, I remember someone commenting about old injection scars becoming
startlingly prominent (no associated pain tho) but no one had any idea why.
Interesting.

All the best to ya CJ, and enjoy being "up north" today. Down here on the
Sunshine Coast, it's raining sideways and the power will likely be knocked
out soon (gusts to 110 kmh). Sure glad I got a woodstove put in last summer
and made a big pot of pea soup last night...

Ahhh pea soup!  Well we got about four inches of fluffy white stuff last
night although I don't think it is going to last.  We had two days of pure
sunshine, but the nights were cold of course.  I am still vibrating,
stimulated by the sun.

Perhaps the injection site scars reappearing case is what Eileen is
referring to when she mentions Lana?  A particular case that came up
involves someone that was in a series of motorcycle accidents that led to
lots of bone damage.  The tx has been making her feel lots of pain in the
areas where the damage and subsequent heavy surgeries took place.  As far as
I know, there has been no 'eruption' on the surface of her skin in these
areas of her body.

I am going to keep my nose to the ground on this wrinkle of hepanistic
arcana.

cheers to you,
cactus jammies

Hi Jammy man,

Lana had Sarcoidosis during or after treatment.   It was the skin type
and I believe she had it on her old injection sites.  I hope this
helps.

I wasn't wanting to mention names, but yeah, it was Lana I was thinking of.

Hi Eileen,
Nice to read you again.  I googled Sarcoidosis along with Hepatitis C and
I found some interesting journal articles.   It's almost as though there are
chances of overlapping conditions creating unique side effects.

hope you are faring well,
