my doctor had me get one before I started TX, then again the next year while
I was still on TX.
I feel that it helped

My Doc strongly recommended it to me while I was on tx. Most everybody ends
up with white count\immunity problems to some extent.

I had one during tx and I still get them free every fall because of a
compromised liver function. (still HCV +)

I've been getting yearly flu shots since they were introduced, and I had one
two months into therapy. I'd say it's a good thing to do - treatment is
daunting enough for some, and the thought of coming down with the flu while
well into therapy would be enough to convince me...

Cheers

Thank you, greyhackles and everyone else. I will go ahead and get one.
Just wanted to make sure that the combo treatment wouldn't render the
vaccine less effective...or that there wasn't some weird
contraindication I hadn't heard of...

I had flu and pnuemonia shots prior to starting tx.

Despite those precautions, with serious neutopenia, Epogen injections
weekly after month 7, I still came down with a cold 10  months in,
that turned into pneumonia,10 days of watching the flowers dance on
the wallpaper. It was NOT fun!! That despite all the pre tx shots
etc.

My vote would be to protect yourself from additional woes, if at all
possible. No gaurantees, but can it hurt? I went from the pneumonia
into a MRSA infection the next month.....

How many things can try to kill you in a one year period?? But hey,
I'M still kickin!!!!......
