Hello.
I have been lurking around for a while and now have a question.
I have a pain right in my upper chest, right at my collarbone. When I
breathe very deeply it radiates all around. If I am laying down it is
worse.
I have cirrhosis with a MELD of 15. I am not ready for the Transplant list.
Not sick enough just yet.
My last scope was april 2007 and showed varices in my stomach (severe
gastric varices) and sonogram showed splenic varices. My arterial pressure
in bad enough that my body made a bypass from my from the vein leaving my
spleen to the vein leaving my kidney. Many people have a shunt place in
this spot to relieve pressure. A spontaneous one is rare but they do happen
and it did in my case.
Please help if you can. I will be seeing my doctor in October but wonder if
it is a emergency problem.
Thank you for any help

Hi MBL
Why don't you sign up to Delphi forums, there is a hep c
forum with live chats that deals specifically with your
issues.
http://forums.delphiforums.com/specialplace3/start
It is called ~HCV Living Room for Non-SVR~
hope to see you there, there are other Hep C related
forums, but this one deals with living with Hep C
Transplants, cirrhosis, complications.

My understanding is that at 15 and higher you should be eligible for
transplant list. Saying whether it is an emergency or not is going to
be very difficult for a non-doctor without current data. However,
varices can be vary dangerous as they can burst. I'm assuming this
pain is fairly new or has worsened. Why not see if you can get a
sooner appointment. One thing that is for sure is doctors cannot make
absolute time tables with illnesses and they are often wrong about the
rate of progression. Your last scope was quite a while ago. See a
doctor about that pain.
