30 Post-Tx Concerns

One month... When the PA at the VA hospital said I shopuld have
totally cleared the nasties.

Thankfully, my friends here informed my understanding on that point--
it's "delusional".

So, I've been walking about 30 mins every day I can.

Question:  would the effects of exercise be radically different than
what I remember my body going through Pre-Tx?

Question: Is it "normal" for my skin (mostly arms and upper legs) to
have a "flushed" look (like the cappilaries are eworkin' overtime)?

And welcome to The Real World(tm) ;-)

Radically different? Hard to diagnose from here :-)  Depends mostly on how
much physical activity you managed to keep up while you were on treatment
(which in itself would be predicated by how hard tx treated your body).
Generally you can expect exercise to feel "harder" than pre-tx, unless you
were one of those miraculous folks that scooted through treatment with little
to no sides. On the up side, exercise will get "easier" each day you put
yourself through it, and it's good for you.

As for the flushed look, get some sun - it can work wonders. I don't recall
that particular condition, but it might not have shown through the remaining
rash - which took a couple of months to completely go away.

So keep on keeping on. You'll get back to "you" before you know it.

Cheers

By and large recovery differs from person to person just as how well
tx is tolerated.  VA people have their formulas about treatment that
have alot to do how much they've budgeted for treatment and they want
you out of their hair as soon as possible so they come up with this
one month after tx bs.  I don't think your skin condition is "normal"
but not unheard of.  TX screwed up my skin but I had a systemic
reaction to the interferon.  I think you discuss things like that with
your doctor and perhaps maybe over time it is expected to fade.

Most of us aren't so young around here and starting or resuming an
exercise program after a year of inactivity is probably going to be a
gradual thing.  Of course how well you're feeling in your recovery is
going to affect things as well as your attitude.  My feeling is
exercise post-tx usually is going to aid in the recovery and is a very
good thing for mind and body  I think if you set reasonable goals and
look for progress every week within 6 months you can expect to be
where you left off unless you are having some post tx problems.  You
may do much better.
