Did you have

A) A great time taking it, or
B) The _greatest_ time taking it?

Other than the cost, I don't remember having any reaction to it.

I remember:
A. Those Elephant needles bouncing off my skin a few times refusing to
penetrate ;) They sucked way worse than the Peg

B. My blood counts went up but still below normal. My doc was happier,
and I could at least make it up a flight of stairs without stopping
three or four times to rest.

Other than that not much  ~deb

That would suggest your shots were actually Epogen (or Procrit or Aranesp).
Neupogen boosts white blood cell counts, not red blood cell counts...

Cheers

I agree with you about the above, but according to my Dr. a lot of
people do experience a marked decrease in fatigue when their
neutrophils get back into the normal range. He mentioned this a few
days ago in response to my comment that I felt significantly less
fatigued since moving from 40,000 to 60,000 IU EPO/week with a
resulting rise in hematocrit from 29ish to 31-32. His opinion was that
my concurrent move from doing NEUPOGEN once per week to twice per week
had a lot more to do with my increased energy.

BTW---I hate/detest/loath NEUPOGEN--If it is possible to hate a drug
which is keeping me healthy. I AMEN (RAMEN, if you're a Pastafarian)
what these people have to say:

Anyone know how many people on tx need NEUPOGEN, btw?

Well, with all due respect to your doctor, it is a lot more likely the
increase in hemoglobin was the greater contributor to the lessening of
fatigue.

I know when I went from nearly 8g/dl up to 9, it was a major improvement in
energy, and when I eventually made it up to 10, it was an amazing difference -
I could actually make it from the parking lot into the hospital without having
to stop and rest.

No idea. A quick look at a couple of studies showed an average Neutrophil
reduction of 35% while on combo therapy across the cohorts, but they didn't
classify individual case severity. And one can survive fairly severe
Neutrophil reduction, of course.

I imagine there are lots of people that *could* have been put on Neupogen by
an aggressive treating physician, but the typical antiviral treatment game
plan has been to incur dose reduction instead - for better or worse (I vote
"worse").
