Well, with all due respect to your doctor, it is a lot more likely the
increase in hemoglobin was the greater contributor to the lessening of
fatigue.
I know when I went from nearly 8g/dl up to 9, it was a major improvement in
energy, and when I eventually made it up to 10, it was an amazing difference -
I could actually make it from the parking lot into the hospital without having
to stop and rest.

No idea. A quick look at a couple of studies showed an average Neutrophil
reduction of 35% while on combo therapy across the cohorts, but they didn't
classify individual case severity. And one can survive fairly severe
Neutrophil reduction, of course.
I imagine there are lots of people that *could* have been put on Neupogen by
an aggressive treating physician, but the typical antiviral treatment game
plan has been to incur dose reduction instead - for better or worse (I vote
"worse").
