I assumed he was using the broad term "HGH" to cover the drugs that are often
used during anti-HCV therapy to boost the bone marrow to produce more and/or
larger RBCs and WBCs (Epogen/Procrit/Aranesp and Neupogen, respectively)...

I was actually thinking of the post-tx use of HGH to speed recovery
from tx-hell, but yeah, I _imagine_ HGH would make life on tx a bit
easier. But while the use of HGH either by itself or in conjunction
with anabolic steroids is something various communities (bodybuilding,
athletics, AIDS, and to a lessor extent medical) are super-familiar
with, the use during Hep C tx is, I suspect, a relative unknown.
Here's a decent profile: http://www.steroid.com/Human-Growth-Hormone.php
FWIW, as any bodybuilder or AIDS patient can tell you, if you are
going to chose either HGH OR a decent steroid cycle, you will get much
better results for far less money with anabolic steroids, including a
really mild one like:

Who knows---since they use it with AIDS patients, and since they
already Rx an infinitely more dangerous/harder to find "banned
performance enhancing substance" (EPO) to folks on tx, they might even
be willing to give you a script...
