Howdy -
I haven't posted here in quite a while. It has taken a while to get
over the effects of tx. I am glad that all the familiar names are
still posting.

I finally went back to see BCLD after stopping tx at 28 weeks back in
December of 2005. He ordered some blood work. Nno PCR - so I don't
know what that is, and I guess it doesn't really matter since I am not
going to do anything about it anyway.
Most everything was normal except for WBC & Platalets which were high,
possibly due to not having a spleen.
AST 61 & ALT 70 which are higher than in May 2007, but lower than the
74 & 91 pre-tx values. What bothers me is that AFP (alpha-
fetoprotein) was 13 (normal range = 0.0 to 6.0). I also had a recent
ultrasound which was unremarkable.
I know what the AFP measures and why they test for this. BCLD's office
only called to tell me that I did not have A & B antibodies and needed
to address that. I got the first shots yesterday for that. No mention
was made of the AFP by either BCLD's office or my PCP.
I thought everything must be OK until I got my copy of the labs from
PCP's nurse and read them after I got home. Now I am wondering?
I will call BCLD's office next week.

In the meantime I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with
this,or any insights.

Thanks,
Steve

The AFP can be elevated due to the HCV infection and I think maybe is
usually higher when there is cancer.
