I just got back from my monthly visit and here's the scoop (plus a
little background I might not have told yet.).
I'm a genotype 1a and started with somewhere in the 600,000s of viral
load. I take Ribavirin and Pegintron.  Have massive fatigue and feel
like a desert inside.  Nausea always just some effort away (always
almost there). I just hit 2 months and had my anti-depressant dosage
upped by 50%.  I found out today that a month ago (takes that long to
find out) I had the viral load down to the 14,000s. My white count had
dropped from 2.5 to 1.5 but they called that a "normal variation".
However my red count went down from 13 to 10.5 so I get to take an
Epogen shot along with my weekly Interferon...
One other spotlight this last week has been an increase in my need
for Preparation H...
As far as the 2-month-plateau I'd heard about, for me things are
still changing on almost a daily basis so if there's any plateau it's
most likely that I've been coping with this thing long enough to have
sucked-up up any complaints and I'm willing to hang on to the bitter
end.

Not sure what you need interpreted, but an almost-2-log-drop in 4 weeks is a
good start :-)

A few other things:

o   the WBC count is a total and includes Neutrophils plus all kinds of cells
that aren't as important. Rather than key on the WBC count, it is more
important to keep an eye on the Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC). So don't get
too worried about the total WBC.

o   as for the red blood cells: I'm almost certain you actually provided your
Hemoglobin count, not your RBC count. And your HGB dropping down to 10.5 is
why you're feeling gassed. The Epogen will help once it kicks in - it takes a
couple of weeks for it to rev up your bone marrow.

o   I don't recall hitting any plateau on sides - I was always going up or
coming down on something or another, quite the roller coaster ride. Just gotta
get a grip on something (anything!) and hang on to the end...

Cheers

Ah - one other think: whenever I started to feel nauseous it was because I
wasn't drinking enough water. Honestly, until your kidneys are floating you
could probably use another good chug of H2O!

Yes!  me too, feeling nauseous or dizzy always was my cue to chug
down more water
I literally drank AT LEAST a gallon of water every day during tx.
It helped :)

Thanks for your support. Let's see... the big lesson I learned today
is...

Uhhhh....

Oh! Yeah!!!

Thanks again, I feel I've been trying hard to form the water habit but
one challenge is the "gassiness" which favors laying down to drinking
wa-wa.

I thinl, from another comment of yours that I now understand 2log-
drop:

600,000 >> 2-log-drops to 6,000

Right?

Bingo! In essence, each decimal point shift to the left is one log.
Thus 600,000 -> 60,000 is one log, 60,000 -> 6,000 is another...

AS always, you've encouraged me while educating me!

I'm not sure what this 2 month plateau is.... things were
changing all the time for me too, and I tended to find that some
weeks I felt better than others.  I just went with the flow,
slept more if I was extra tired, sent the spousal unit out for
takeout if I didn't want to cook, etc.  I just plodded through
the 48 weeks and dealt with problems when they cropped up.   dry
skin, mouth sores, itchy scalp, cracked lips.... and so on.   I
went though a couple tubes of anti itch creams, several kinds of
lotions, kept trying new shampoos trying to keep my hair from
drying out too much.... and tried hard not to stress myself too
much.

I had to go on procrit too, not sure when now.  it helped... I
was able to lead a semi productive life (at least I could bathe
myself!  lol) and I got through it really with a minimum of bad
sides.   You sound like you're really doing pretty well too.
Remember to drink, drink, drink that water!  it made a big
difference in how I felt if I slacked off on that.

take care.... you will be surprised how soon you'll be past the
1/2 way point, then counting down the days to the end of tx.

and if you do need to complain, this is the place to do it!

(not commenting on the numbers because I'm not sure if that's
good or bad, but I know someone else will help you out there)
