Dental work?

I believe I've seen this discussed here before, but I have a curious
situation. I'm a second week into Peg-Intron/ribavirin treatment, and
a couple of days ago, I chipped a tooth in the back of my mouth.
Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but the chip left a rather sharp
edge that keeps scratching and irritating my tongue whenever I speak.
Really bloody annoying. I asked the liver doctor, and I don't think he
had much of a clue...he said as long as I don't take any meds
prescribed by a dentist for more than a few days (I presume stuff like
anti-biotics or anti-inflammatories), it should be no problem. Huh.
Any thoughts?

Had my second shot of Peg-Intron this Friday's night (yesterday). Much
easier than the first--this time, I just fell asleep and woke up in
the morning feeling "normal". I know this may all change, but these
days, if I didn't know I was on something, I wouldn't know if I'm
feeling any different, except for some occasional minor things. I
wonder what that's supposed to mean, as far as anti-viral therapy, and
all that. Sometimes I have a distinct feeling in my throat, esp. when
swallowing--may be thyroid; I'm having my first Tx blood test done
before the third shot.

Apart from that, not much to share. <g> Hope everyone is doing
well--I'm actually feeling much better compared to pre-treatment
anxiety, esp. since I was imagining all kinds of depressive, achey
scenarios for myself. I do wish the damn thing wasn't taking so damn
long, and I admire anyone who has done a full year (not like me, with
only 22 shots to go, and whining about it). Trying to take it one day
at a time. Only now I can appreciate how apprehensive that 12-week
mark must be for everyone here.
Cheers,

There's no issue with getting such minor dental work done - especially this
early in your therapy. One, you haven't been on the drugs long enough to have
markedly decreased your WBCs or platelets, so infection or unusual rate of
bleeding would not be risks. Two, a chipped tooth is comparatively trivial to
fix - it's not like having all your wisdom teeth extracted ;-)

Glad you're not feeling too bad post-shot already, but don't let your guard
slip. Don't forget to drink lots of water, get some light exercise if you can
to keep the muscle tone up - walking is good if you can deal with it - and get
enough rest.

Cheers
