Interesting news from Barcelona (the location of this year's EASL
meeting) that could reduce the need for biopsies:

Summary of Key Conclusions
Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) measurements confirmed as
noninvasive diagnostic tool for identifying hepatic fibrosis and staging
liver disease
MRE not useful for identifying steatosis: no effect of steatosis on
liver stiffness

Is this better than the blood test Labcorp has? Cheaper? Test is
called
Fibrosure I think.

The lab test can't distinguish between low levels of fibrosis, so it's
not that useful unless it indicates significant fibrosis. Only then are
the blood test results relatively reliable. This test supposedly can
distinguish low levels, which would make it a lot more useful. But it's
in early stages of development, so we'll have to wait and see if this
really pans out.
