A friend just told me about his medical condition, and I'd like to get some opinions on this: He was born with Hep C, (he's about 30 now) his "count" is in the sixes, where a one point something is considered high. I asked him what this count represents, blood cells? Liters? Horsepower? Jigawatts? What? He doesn't know yet. (This is all new and overwhelming to him.) Anyway, he has mucho polyps in his liver and is going to start aggressive chemo at Stanford next week. Can someone fill me in on this? Is this cancer? Is he headed towards the light? Anything? Bueler? Thanks, Top Sorry, I don't recognize the numbers you're referring to. Polyps aren't necessarily cancer, but I'm guessing since he's starting chemo, his doctors think he has cancer. That's not a good thing. If he does have liver cancer and it hasn't spread to other parts of his body, a liver transplant might be a possibility. But if his liver has alot of tumors, chances are it's already advanced past that point and he may have cancer elsewhere. It's a shame your friend didn't seek treatment for his hepatitis 5 years or so ago. He might not be in this position today. Hope the chemo puts his cancer into remission. You gave me the impression you were asking questions to get a better understanding about what might be going on with your friend. He seemed to not have any grasp of the severity, from my perspective. Based on what he told me I *did* sense the gravity of it which made me post the question here.
