Sorry, I don't recognize the numbers you're referring to. Polyps aren't
necessarily cancer, but I'm guessing since he's starting chemo, his
doctors think he has cancer. That's not a good thing. If he does have
liver cancer and it hasn't spread to other parts of his body, a liver
transplant might be a possibility. But if his liver has alot of tumors,
chances are it's already advanced past that point and he may have cancer
elsewhere. It's a shame your friend didn't seek treatment for his
hepatitis 5 years or so ago. He might not be in this position today.
Hope the chemo puts his cancer into remission. Keep us posted, please.

Thanks, I will pass this on... delicately.

I would certainly hope that your friend's doctor has already had a
'frank' discussion with with him and that he knows all of this. You
gave me the impression you were asking questions to get a better
understanding about what might be going on with your friend. Your
friend needs to be hearing this stuff from his doctor, not from you
getting your info second-hand from someone on the internet who is not a
doctor.

Well, the person in question is in major denial and is completely tuning the
doctors out, apparently, which led me to query on my own. He seemed to not
have any grasp of the severity, from my perspective. Based on what he told
me I *did* sense the gravity of it which made me post the question here.
However you are certainly correct in that it is not my place to advise nor
'net-doctor.' Thanks for the help.

That's a shame your friend is hiding his head in the sand. He'll get a
pretty heavy dose of reality soon enough. I hope he's got someone to
lean on once he comes around. Take care.
