eileen - 07 Mar 2007 19:15 GMT After a round of treatment that started last April I was a non responder by week 16. I waited a month and went to see Elmos NP, almost 4 hours round trip. Donna (my NP) was thinking the same thing that I did. Let's get started now while the vl is at 2 mil, I had started with almost 7 mil. I did daily Infergen shots, Riba and Amatadine, then added the Pegasys to the mix. But I got a eye infection and tremors so I had to stop for a week to find out if they could do this because of my only Kidney was showing infection also. Was treated, tested and passed and had to restart my induction therapy and start my recount all over. So now it's week 21 and I am undetectable! I know I still have 36 more weeks and have found that 3 infergen shots along with the Pegasys, Riba, Amatadine and Procrit wasn't as bad as daily infergen with the Pegasys and the other goodies. I did have to check with my family to see if they could stand me for the next 36 weeks and they haven't run yet. My good friends Elmo, Kojo, Sara, Thip and Mags pulled me along nicely and I appreciate The nice replys that Thom, Dwight and Mom gave me when I needed it. For you all who could or had to work, during treatment. I salute you. I know I couldn't have done it some weeks, but anyhow just thought I would let my friends who support know that I have at least gotten a non detectable, which I hope stays that way. Best wishes to my fellow classmates

Dorty, my fellow Jersey girl, I'm sorry I missed you. Wimps? no, everyone who even does the treatment knows how difficult it can be. Thank You for all your help.

Dwight - 07 Mar 2007 20:48 GMT Eileen, it's good to hear from you and even better to hear that you have kicked some serious dragon butt. Don't let up until that lizard is dead, dead, dead. I'm still waiting and hoping for a kinder more gentler tx. I'm also hoping the Easter Bunny brings Santa and the Tooth Fairy along next month. :)

I really believe the large amount of water and rest I get is helpful, the side drugs also make it easier, so does the green. This is my last chance, I will do my best and if it switches on me, I will just go fishing. * ) * eileen

We were (my wife) cleaning out the little water fall and tank in the back yard and found two large night crawlers in there. Started thinking about going fishing again. I don't think my boat is salvageable after not being used for the last few years, thanks to tx, but I'm ready to set on the bank and try drowning a few night crawlers. :)

I've already put them through two rounds of tx without success. The last time I did peg for 60 weeks. This after my viral load started going back up after about 36 weeks. My last biopsy showed that my liver damage hadn't progressed significantly since 92 or 93, about the same time I gave up drinking. I'll do it again, just going to wait a little longer.

Dwight - 08 Mar 2007 03:22 GMT >>. >>. [quoted text clipped - 20 lines] > > /greyhackles Grey, it was my decision to keep going as maintenance. I thought I could just keep going, but at 60 weeks I had just had enough and quit. During this time, I was being monitored very closely. As far as rebounding, by the time it started going back up I just went from a VL of 29,000 to 31,000 (approximately) it wasn't a big jump, but definitely the wrong direction. I think I was still grasping at straws.

Maximum kudos for the undetectable and the hard work it took to get there!
For the record - specifically, for those that might find themselves in the same situation - are you still doing three shots per week of the Infergen, along with the weekly Pegasys? Or did you stop the Infergen somewhere along the line?
Cheers - and best wishes for your SVR. You're earning it, big time :-)

I waited a month and went to see Elmos NP, [quoted text clipped - 37 lines] > > - Show quoted text - Thanks Grey, After the induction time I go on and off the Infergen, when it starts the tremors I take a break. It usually takes a month before the tremors start up. My NP has said as long as I can handle it she also wants to hit it like the induction therapy near the end to make sure I keep my clearence to get my SVR. While I am on the Infergen and the Peg, Riba & Amatadine, I don't really do anything, I'm too tired even with the procrit which is the lowest possible dose because of my kidney. I think I've aged, my hair which was thick and shiney Salt and Pepper. It is now thin, brittle and dull pewter. but I know it's temporary and I will hopefully get my eyelashes and eyebrows under control. ;) It really helps to have a NP who knows you and is available by phone for you anytime. ;) eileen

elmoemerson@webtv.net - 08 Mar 2007 13:34 GMT That's wonderful news, Infergoneene (formerly Pizzaneene). You worked awfully hard to get where you're at, and I'm proud of you for it. You're indeed a warrior! <pinning a medal on Eileen's chest without groping her boob> Now get back to 'the front' and kick any dragon's butt that might be hiding. Take no prisoners. :-) elmo
