I would also like that list...
I just saw my new Primary Care Doc today (VA system) and she's put in a
"consult" for a GastroEnt. I asked if it would be "months" before I saw
one but she said "not that bad".
So...
"Soon" the GE then the biopsy...
One specific thing right now I want to ask about: She saw I was 1a and
said they recommend Tx even without a biopsy (even though she asked for
the biopsy). Whatdayall think 'bout that?
I dont think thats unusual. Kaise recommends treatment without a biopsy.
In fact, I had to insist on it to get one. And Im glad I did since I
know the state of my liver: Grade 3 Stage 3
Thanks for the info. Is there a place on the net where I gan get a
descripton of the different Grades and States of the liver? I don't know
what mine is yet, but am interested in the rating scale.
Also, people sometimes sign posts with things like "1b" or something
similar. What does that refer to?
Thanks in advance for any info, and thanks again to the group!

Didn't you know they reinstated the draft? All the 1's are headed off
to Iraq. ahahahahahahahahaha
Actually, it refers to the different genotypes of hep-c. Type 1's and
4's are generally more difficult to treat as opposed to the 2's and 3's
that respond more favorably to shorter courses of treatment. The letter
that follows a number is called the 'subgenotype' (ex. 1a, or 2b, etc).

To my mind the most important question you can ask the doc is: "Can
you explain that to me again?" Over and over until you actually
understand what is being said. Too many people take the first
explanation, smile, nod their heads and then go off with no
understanding (or worse) a flawed understanding of what was said.
