Hello Everyone!!!!

I just finished my last needle this week!!!!  I was on combination
therapy for 6 months.  In december my blood count was really low so I
have also been taking Erpex shots for my anemia for the last two
months.  My question to everyone is once I finish treatment, what
should I expect in the next month or so?????  Nobody has been able to
share any info with me and I was just wondering what to expect???  Any
info would be very helpful.....

A hard-core thread proliferator, eh? ;-)

Ok, here's the plan:  In two to three weeks you're gonna feel great. Rashes
will clear, dry skin won't be so dry, food won't taste weird, eyes won't be so
sensitive, you won't be anywhere near as volatile. Within a month you'll be
able to climb stairs again without being totally gassed. In six months your
hair will go back to whatever was normal, right about the time for your 6
month SVR check. In a year, you'll start forgetting all about therapy. In five
years you won't remember it without prompting.

That sound ok to you? :-)

Cheers

I really do hope it unfolds like this.  This is my first week without
anything and I am anxious to get on with things.  Thanks for the
advice.

I just finished 2 weeks ago. Slowly, Im getting a little more energy I
think. I had a little more stamina with my bike ride the other day. I
was on therapy for 12 months.

On another note I receive my first post treatment alt test. It was 61.
My last alt test during treatment was 43. I dont think thats a
particularly good sign but who knows maybe that could be just lab
variance. Anyway, results of my qualitative test this week should be
in next week and I have an appointment with BCLD  (Big Chief Liver
Doctor) on Monday.

Hi Anonymousone - I finished my 48 weeks about 5 weeks ago. Most of my
labs are back to normal, except now I'm hypothyroid. My ALT has never
gotten within the normal range - close, but never normal. It's 48 now
(it started out around 150 though so it got better). We're going to
keep an eye on it. I'm still SVR and that's what I'm really happy
about. Now that I'm taking thyroid meds, I'm not as exhausted and
getting energy back. By spring I'm hoping to be back to where I was
before the treatment. Take care. Di

Don't mean to be a 'bubble buster', but you aren't SVR, Di.  SVR means
that you've gone 6 months or more after you finished tx without
detectable virus.  When did you have your last pcr drawn?

Glad to hear that you are doing so well.  I have a few questions for
you.  How exactly are you feeling 5 weeks after treatment.  Had you
lost alot of weight during treatment????  How is the appetite.  Does
food taste like food again to you.  I always want to eat but when it
hits my mouth i can't swallow it.  Nothing tastes the way it is
supposed to!!!  How is your energy lever????  Are you sleeping okay
now, I have been very pale, has colour stated to come back????  Sorry
for the questions but nobody can give me an answer as to how i am
gonna feel so I figured I better ask the people who know and its not
the doctors!!!

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Golfgirl - It's been about 6 weeks now and I'm feeling better all
the time. I didn't lose that much weight, only about 5-6 pounds and
unfortunately, I've gained that back. Food tastes better but I'm still
really thirsty. My energy level is getting better all the time. I was
working 4 six hour days, and now I'm working five 6-7 hour days. I'm
still exhausted after work, but not AS exhausted as I was. I still
don't sleep that good though. I've got some other stressors in my life
to deal with that aren't helping that (my 9 year relationship broke up
about 8 months into my treatment, so that sucks) and I'm working
through that. Trying to keep my stress level down as best I can. I
think my hair's starting to grow back - or at least it's not falling
out as fast as it was, or something.

I was still pretty nauseous and exhausted for about the first month
after I finished, and found out I was hypothyroid (I'm hoping that's
the only long-term side effect I end up with from the treatment). It
think it helped when I got on thyroid. I don't know if it helped with
the nauseousness, but at least the exhaustion.

I think you're right about the docs not being able to answer your
questions. My doctor said the treatment was harder at first and then
you adjust to it, but I found it was easier at first and then I felt
worse and worse. Maybe adjusted more to feeling sick all the time.....

I'm happy to answer any questions I can. I think it's good to get
perspective from other people, but everyone's experience is so
different. How long do you have left?

You're so right Elmo - dang! So I guess all I can say is on my last
test when I finished treatment, my viral load was "none detected".
That was about January 24th. Hopefully, it will stay that way!
