Does this mean that my Citalopram (Selective Serotonin Reuptake
Inhibitor) is contra-indicated for my probably-near treatment for Hep
C?

I didn't see the beginning of this but I don't know of any such
interactions. Just the opposite, in fact.

"In conclusion, hepatitis C patients with a history of
interferon-induced major depression can be successfully re-treated with
peginterferon/ribavirin and concomitant SSRI prophylaxis. In these
patients, SSRI prophylaxis is safe and efficacious and should be
considered, if antiviral re-therapy is indicated."

Talk to your doctor, but if you're already on an SSRI there isn't any
reason that I know of to stop it.

I was on the crap 5 years ago. There was no idea what the combo might do
what to a human. I had been on Zoloft for 2 and some odd years since the 2nd
interferon treatment (5 million units daily) I was taking the max dose of
zoloft when I went to primary care to complain about my legs spazzing. She
immediatly stopped the zol. and put me on high dose of either trazadone or
some other antidepressant. She feared I'd begin to get some kinda seizure
disorder from mixing the the uptake with the ribo. She caught it almost in
time. I ended up on medium dose of clonipin for restless leg syndrome and am
fairly dependant on it now. I'm an old timer when it comes to treatment,
seems my expierance with these drugs is much different than others. Guess I
shoulda smoked dope or drank during treatment, but I was 17 years sober back
then and just listened to the docs. Call your doc, ask him or her if she has
a recomendation. If they say they never heard of such a thing, get other
opinions less ya wanna be climbing stairs in all your hep pain just to make
your legs release their energy. The syndrome exists, and if your taking
both, your eligible. Don't wait for something to happen, get a tune up now
Bobby....Sorry, didn't see your other post
