I was waiting for a date with a liver specialist (being treated
through VA) and now I have to move (but the people will be more
supportive...) and now I get to wait a bit due to the transition in
hospitals (FL to OH). I was planning on a standard biopsy since I've
definitely got IT (from two runs of blood tests).
So is this something available or should I just request a standard
biopsy?

I'm not sure the VA has gotten on board this yet. These are emerging
algorithmic assays, able to fairly well define liver damage at the poles (mild
vs severe damage) but not yet very accurate in the middle stages (say,
discriminating between F2 and F3). They are *probably* better than doing
nothing, but I would recommend getting a standard liver biopsy at this point,
until (if) these types of tests are refined to the point that they are more
widely adopted...

Cheers
