Perado Dez - 25 Sep 2003 02:13 GMT i wish they had punched it. instead they used something like a corkscrew and twisted it in. took about three twists. then i had to wait while they put a syringe in and drew the marrow out. they did give me a local but nothing else. they claimed no painkillers or sedatives would help once they hit the bone. tomorrow will be better.
didn't mean to whine. i hope your headache goes away soon. that's gotta wear you thin real quick. also, hope Russ and Mike get to feeling better soon too.
Ray, i used to live on "brewers" yeast. felt great until the next morning ;-)

Dwight - 25 Sep 2003 04:36 GMT Dez, I feel for you, I went through it when I first started having medical problems. That was one of the most painful procedures I've ever been through. Sure hope your tests come back with something positive for a change, you've had enough sh.t to go through lately, you deserve a break.

I had the bone marrow biopsy last month and it was a walk in the park. Still hurts. <g> They sent me to a hematologist cause my whites and reds were down. Dig this... the hema wanted to do the following: HIV test Cat scan Bone marrow biopsy Ultra sound liver & spleen.
I knew exactly why the whites and reds were down, cause I had charted them since before starting tx. I told the hema to do the minimum for Insurance to pay for the Procrit and Neulasta. That was my bone marrow biopsy. Here's another eye opener. At the hema's office Procrit is $1015.00, Neulasta is $5604.00, PER SHOT. Procrit (for me) is 1 per week, Neulasta 1 per 2 weeks. Insurance pays less, but pity the 40 million Americans without health insurance.

This is the end of our first grading period at school and I'm having major problems getting new tests made up and trying to grade them. On top of everything else, I've some of the worst students I've had since I started teaching. Maybe it's just my attitude and lack of patience, I do feel a little like Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde sometimes. Nah, on second thought, they're just jerks. :)

p.s. Enjoy snowmobiling this winter --that's about the only thing I miss about the east-coast climate. When I was much younger (and my best friend's dad had the Bombardier dealership) I used to race at winter carnivals (about three a year in a 100-mile radius). I got two trophies (one for 1st place) and a couple of third-place gasoline coupons, and my friend would enter the jumping events. It looked like lots of fun (open 'er up and go straight) until you landed. Snowmobiles in the 70's were not graceful machines. Those who jumped frequently broke teeth. Those who raced merely looked like fools when they took a turn too fast and flipped or spun out.
Russ Tanner - 28 Sep 2003 17:00 GMT Kiak is doing ok. She has other problems besides the Hep and that weighs on her, Severe Onset Adult Asthma, and she had open heart surgery last winter.
In the brass balls department, she is right up on the top of the list.
We keep a close eye on her!!!!
