Sara - 26 Nov 2006 23:36 GMT was it this time last year that we went thru a lot of this name calling, belief trashing, ridiculing and mudslinging?
Gee, I just can't wait for Christmas. :)

I'm not a psyche major, or a psych major, but perhaps it didn't bother you as much because you weren't posting here as much.
kjoh - 27 Nov 2006 02:32 GMT I see the pattern too, Sara. It's a shame. Must be the Scrooge gene.
Let me be the first to say Happy Holidays to all you heppers, especially those of you struggling with the worst of this disease or its treatment. This is a support group, after all, even though the compassion offered here is sometimes pretty damn obscure.
Your mother wears army boots ;-) kj

What's the deal with Krispy Kremes? Are they really that much better than the average donut? Should I seek them out? Out in our big box suburban sprawl zone there is a Home Depot with a Burger King in the parking lot. Across the street (six lanes) is a Lowe's with a Krispy Kreme shop in the parking lot. Ghastly setup. When I go for spackle, should I opt for the Whopper or the Krispy Kreme?! I'm so confused!!
Koko tofu whopper
Sara - 28 Nov 2006 20:22 GMT it's just something you have to experience :)
but yah, they are THAT GOOD.
buy the fresh ones from the shop, not the boxed ones that some grocery stores carry tho.

I tried a couple while they were still warm. Frankly, they're nothing to write home about, in spite of the hype. The sugar coating gets old in a hurry, imo. I'd rather have a good plain cruller...
Cheers

dt12 - 28 Nov 2006 22:54 GMT That's what I like crullers. doogie

Better than Krispy Kremes or Holy Donaughts. and they have carb wise and fat reduced food with no bad cholesterol. eat salmon for the good kind.

Jim Klein - 25 Dec 2006 15:02 GMT > Gee, I just can't wait for Christmas. :) Hey, Sara...just thought I'd say Merry Christmas, you bein' from the 'hood and all. I've seen plenty of your writing and how you're doin' and am proud to say, "Now, /there's/ a Detroiter!"
I read thru here regularly still and appreciate the info. We did manage to get out of town and are now out in the peaceful country. It was a wise move and I'd recommend it to anyone, healthy or not. Like yesterday. We call it "Heaven on Earth" and figure to make our days here as heavenly as possible. The nice thing about a heavenly place is that each day is better than the one before.
If you can take the pain. But then, I've got my famous reminder for all heppers who endure one of the toughest curses ever known to man. There are an awful lot of people here who will feel better and be healthier at 60, than they were at 50. That's a unique blessing that almost no person has ever known.
Merry Christmas and Good Health to all!

Sara - 31 Dec 2006 20:07 GMT Hey Jim!
Great to hear from you. Sounds like you're doing great... your note put a huge grin on my face :)
I'm about to do shot # 39 tonight.... 9 more after this one :) It's gone by quickly, and I've mostly felt pretty human through it all so far. I've had my 'moments', of course, but I've definitely been one of the lucky ones as far as side effects go.
I was in Minnesota for the holidays, just got back a couple days ago. Was nice to visit my mom (82 yrs old, and starting to have some serious health issues), and spend time with my two sons who are living there. We have a grandson in MN who is the result of fetal alcohol syndrome, lots of problems but a very loving soul. He's 11 now, and mostly enjoyable :) He's got ADHD, and ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder) which can make spending a lot of time with him VERY exhausting and more than a bit of a challenge
:) But he's doing better the older he gets, and our son (who divorced the drinking mom, and has full custody of the boy) deals well with his issues. They've already realized that functioning in the adult world may be difficult for him, and are teaching him carpet and flooring installation (my son has his own business) so hopefully he'll be able to earn a decent living doing that when he's grown.
Anyway, I'm always nostalgic after a visit to Minnesota. I miss my boys, but they are doing well there, much better than they ever did in Detroit. I miss my mom, and am always afraid that "this visit" may be my last with her.... so I do try to get up there to see her as often as I can.
Hubby got a buyout offer from Fords, which he definitely plans to accept... he plans to work thru the 'decision' period, then retire the end of Feb. I'm kinda excited, kinda scared. Have to relearn living on a budget! I prefer being spoiled :) But it's time, and he's really looking forward to retiring. We'll be fine, if the kid ever decides she's had enough schooling and decides to find a job! Now she wants to transfer her HFCC credits to UM. I'm steering toward Wayne State -- a much easier commute! I think HFCC transfers more to UM tho. We'll have to check it all out (hubby's task!) She wants to be a Bio teacher, and I think Wayne has the better rep for their teaching program.
Sure am looking forward to having some of that energy and better health you mentioned. We're looking forward to getting on the bike and just 'going'.... wherever life takes us. Maybe we'll get up to your neck of the woods one day... would be fun to meet somewhere and have dinner :)
you take care -- and thank you for the big grin :) Nice to know that someone here DOES understand how my head works, scary tho that thought may be!
Hugs Sara
