I am a newbie. My name is Bob. I am going to get the results of my liver
biopsy today. I am really worried about this. I guess first of all is the
sides. Will I be able to work while on therapy. I drive truck from 11.30pm
to 7.30am. I deliver auto parts and supplies. So I am loading and unloading
by hand and it requires you to be strong very strong. If I can't work then I
will not have any med insurance no income you know the story.
How sick am I going to be. I know it is different for everyone but maybe
just a summary of what I can expect. I don't know if I can do the treatment.
My fiancé says I will or else. LOL

Hi Bob, welcome to the club.  Nobody can tell you how sick you will
be. It might be very mild but it could be pretty rough.   That's how
it goes with medication. One thing they say if you are prone to
autoimmune type illnesses treatment can aggravate those conditions. If
you treat you will almost certainly lose some energy but not
necessarily enough that you can't do your job.  Probably slow you down
some though. Everybody becomes anemic to some extent as far as I know
due to the ribavirin.  I like to run but after a about 2 months of tx
I just didn't have the aerobic capacity to run.  But I could walk as
far as I wanted to.  The best thing to do is find out where you stand,
listen to your doctor's recommendations, and perhaps then discuss
things with the group.  The condition of your liver and the genotype
of the virus will likely be important factors to consider in your
decision.  It would be good to have a plan in case you did have to
miss some work because that does happen to some people.  Good luck.

Hi Bob!

If you read around here, some people seem to have not a lot of side
effects. Unloading stuff that is really heavy while you are on
treatment especially in my experience wouldve been impossible. I could
not even do basic tasks I was so out of it and exhausted, and sick
feeling and I am a very strong person. I hate to ask other people to do
things for me.
Does your work have disability insurance? You might want to look into
that.
