Voters turned out in record numbers here in Missouri and passed a
constitutional ammendment allowing stem cell research, while the
proposed ammendment banning incest was narrowly defeated.  :-)

The amendment without a reason.  First of all, there are
currently no laws nor are any contemplated that would actually outlaw
embryonic stem cell research. The only law passed said federal funds
could not be used except in certain circumstances. Nothin' that says you
can't fund things privately or even at the state level (ala California).
Secondly, the amendment said, "consistent with federal law.." in the
early sentences. About the only thing it does is keep the state
legislative types out of the mix. Talk about your using your nuclear
bombs to kill a fly. But hey, I am sure it made the people who pushed it
now feel warm all over. Not necessarily a bad thing.

So there will always be the Hatfield and McCoy messing with their cousins
deep in the Ozarks?  I can hear banjo music....   8-)   good for Missouri!
Just watch the state Republican committees freak out.  They put all their
efforts into sustaining the current POTUS and now the ascendancy through
that party allegiance has been seriously bent.  If I was a Republican, I
would be saying today... "George W who?"  BTW, I read something this
morning, usually written by a usually reliable source.  He said that there
is a growing realization that Cheney actually restrains GWB in his
adventurist ideas.

never would have guessed.
