Cody - 28 Oct 2006 01:39 GMT I don't know if it has anything to do with Hep C but tonight I was just sitting there, watching TV and all of a sudden I got a very strong chill. This was about two hours ago. I still have it and am sitting next to a heater which alleviates it but as soon as I move away from the heater, it comes back and it isn't really cold tonight. To make matters worse, sitting next to the heater causes me to sweat which, in turn, cools me off and brings back the chill. I have taken some codeine cough syrup, about three hours ago and some aspirin, half hour ago, but it's still there.
Any suggestions and does anyone think this is from HepC?
Thanks,
Cody

Anyone in your family unit sporting a cold lately? I don't know anything about the schools in Spain, but in the US, by the time October is done all of the school kids have had a solid couple of months to exchange bugs...
Cheers - and feel better soon.

I did have the flu but it was worse a couple of days ago and I thought I was pretty much over it. Unfortunately, this is something I've been plagued with for over 20 years and it's worse if I have the flu or a cold but neither are necessary to trigger it.

Seriously, Cody, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm guessing by the time you read this, it will have disappeared. Who knows, maybe you're catching the flu, but I doubt it's the hepc? elmo

I've been to many doctors but none of them can explain it.
I am feeling much better today, though.

Well, maybe your chills ARE associated with your hep, after all. I didn't get the chills, but would occasionally get sudden unexplained bouts of debilitating fatigue. My ex-wife used to think I was just being lazy. ahahahahhahahaha!!! I went to the doc for it and they didn't even think to test me for hepc.....was tested for Lyme's disease a few times over a 15 year period. When I was finally diagnosed with hepc, it was almost a relief in that I finally knew what was causing my fatigue. That was until they told me what the tx for my affliction was. LOL. elmo

But there's a lot I don't recall so that doesn't mean much. Tell me, do you have Hep-C now? If so, you might be going through what I went through prior to Tx. Upon a closer review of my Hx, my care provider concluded that my endogenous interferon levels had been spiking in response to the virus -- and yeah, *chills* was one of the resulting symptoms. Also, at times I became diaphoretic. During the middle of one crisis near the end I was sitting at a desk in school for a compulsory exam and so much sweat was pouring off my face that I had to sit back to keep the scantron test-form from getting drenched....and this was on a cold day. -bg

I have had it at least since 90 and probably since 66 or so. Fortunately, I woke up this afternoon without the chills. What a night!
Thanks for you concern,

That's very interesting to me because I have had many of the symptoms described as tx sides *WELL BEFORE* I started treatment.
I started getting chills maybe 4 times a years starting in 96 or so.
My solution for chills is that I can feel it before it starts, and I react totally before symptoms start.
To avoid or cure chills, I use super-thick wool LL Bean socks, sweatpants, t-shirt, really warm sweatshirt, and get under the covers.
If it's bad, I also find running my hands under warm water helps. Also, the bathroom as a heater that if run for 5-10 minutes gets the room really hot.

Yeah, *well before Tx* is it. Body tissues dump interferon in response to viral invasion, inteferon levels spike up as a result, and symptomatic response is essentially same as response to exogenous interferon administered during Tx. Big difference in my experience with interferon prior to Tx is that it apparently spiked for only a couple days or so before dropping back down to normal asymptomatic levels. But when it hit, it hit hard. I know that chronic HCV is typically asymptomatic until later stage fibrosis, but I'm here to say such is not always the case. Over two or three years prior to Tx, it's apparent that IFN dosed me with various flu symptoms once every two or three months. So far, post Tx, all that is history now. So far.

The warm water will have a quicker effect if it runs over your wrists, presumably warming your blood a bit. This works just as well for cooling you down (with cold water, yes).

If it's any consolation, flu season has hit the Sunshine Coast and it seems everyone is feeling like crap. Viruses (virons? viri?) just have no couth at all, they always treat their hosts horribly <g>

I am sure now that it is the flu and we all know what the cure for that is: time.
In the meantime, hash is doing a pretty good job of helping me get through the night.

Went three days without a cigarette because I couldn't breathe, then, after my GP prescribed antibiotics, three days with diahorreah (again, sp). Whoo-hooo, today is the first day that I've felt human in a week!
My throat was too sensitive to toke anything, just led to hacking and wheezing. However, happily, things are back to normal <g>

However, happily, things are back to normal <g> i had the same, but went through it without antibiotics. cures slowly, pfew. been coughing for two weeks, couldn't smoke for a week either, but other herbs (chinese: ban lan gen keli, ganmao zhike chongji and chuanbei ye) kept me at my feet. even after three weeks now i still have an occasional cough, but i guess that is because i am keeping up with smoking, heh. at least i can sleep through the night again, pfew. one thing i know for sure: kleenex had a good costumer on me. i emptied nine boxes in that period!
hope all is fine with you and yours. did you see mom's babee? she posted a picture of her brandnew and first granddaughter. --

shawn2 - 03 Nov 2006 01:35 GMT Cody, I don't know what the regs for electronic devices are in Valecia. But, Randi just bought an electric heating pad for our bed. It's adjustible for both sides. I love It's REALLY helps with my pain. I keep my side at about 104F I find it very soothing in the morning after I take my pills. Be Well. Shawn
