Hi All....A brief run down. First of all...I've been reading comments in
this group since starting treatment (lots of good advice...thanks) but
have been too foggy/confused/tired to start posting. Anyways, started
with over 3,000,000 before treatment and went undetectable at 14 weeks
(yeah). Tomorrow is week 35/48 for me. Anyways, I've been doing 180 mcg
of interferon  once a week and 1000 mg of ribavirin a day. Well, I've
been getting the run around on trying to get the interferon refilled for
the the past three weeks. Supposed to do my shot tomorrow and I still
don't have my medication! Thanks a lot to Prescription "Solutions"
Anyways, I would really appreciate any advice/suggestions on what I
should do. Oh, I do have 1/2 vial of the interferon but don't know if it
would do more harm than good to do half a dose. Thanks for listening
..let me know what y'all think.
Thanks, TLC
BTW...I'm in Santa Monica

Don't ya hate that when it happens? I never missed a Friday Nite Shot but came
within a few hours of it when the FedEx delivery finally arrived - over a week
late because of supplier eff-ups.

Bottom line: If you can't get your 'script refilled before your shot day, half
a dose is better than none at all...

Cheers

I would call the doc, cause he/she should be able to get you some
through a local pharmacy...I know that I needed meds when I was away
from home during treatment and the office got it all worked out so that
I could get them where I was cause I lost them. But I agree with
greyhackles half a dose is better than none.

You could be right that he could fetch one from a local pharmacy if he can
ring up a doc to write the 'script, but I have my doubts. The stuff is so
expensive and has shelf-life issues, isn't often prescribed to anyone but
heppers, and then you'd have to get lucky that they had Roche's brand or
Schering's brand to match whatever s(he) has been using...

I dunno....Sounds like a Hail Mary to me.
Wait! Ah HAH! I get it! You have insider knowledge! :-)

Cheers ;-)

Being in Santa Monica there should be at least a few places that would
have the interferon in stock. Call your doc, they'll be able to tell you
which pharmacy will have it. I went through it a few times my last round
of tx. I had to pay an extra co-pay for a month's supply once and had to
settle for a half dose once while visiting the in-laws in a small Kansas
town. If I had any left I would overnight it to you. The first thing I
would do is call you doc, he might have some on hand if nothing else.

Good luck

Thanks so much to all who responded. My meds finally arrived at 5;00
p.m. tonight. Now I'm told that my doctor is going to have to write an
appeal to the provider for my next batch. You can bet that they'll be
tired of hearing from me til I get satisfactory results! Thanks Dwight
for offering (if you had any extra) to overnight a dose.
Well...emergency averted. I think I'll smoke a doobie and relax now.
Thanks...TLC
