" The investigators identified weight loss to reduce fat tissue as a
key step to improving response to treatment. Treatment with diabetes
drugs like metformin and pioglitazone to raise insulin sensitivity and
reduce fat accumulation in the liver might help reverse disease
progression, according to the report"
Ive known for about 10 years I was tending towards insulin resistance
due to an inability to lose weight. From what Ive read this can
sometime be connected to HCV and reversed.
Has anybody tried to treat insulin resistance during treatment?
Currently, Im trying to deal with it by using HIgh protein diet.

I take insulin injections. I know that when I was able to do more
exercising my need for injections dropped dramatically. Unfortunately,
the onset of arthritis in my joints has made exercise more difficult.

I had to increase my pills and was taking four times the amount that I
was before tx started. I have lost a bit of weight too.
I am now on insulin as I had reached the max dose of oral meds. My blood
levels would swing high and low from one day to the next even though I
would eat the same foods. I do have much better control with the insulin.
