Short term disability..

Hey gang....

I don't know where to begin. My gastro and his assistant both told me it was
there policy not to fill out disability insurance forms. The gastro did
write a letter on my behalf stating all the issues I was having with tx. I
went to my GP and he said he would fill out the forms. That was back in
April. I called a couple weeks ago to find out the status, he isn't sure if
he can fill them out because he didn't treat me for the hep c. I called the
gastro and they said they would send my treatment notes to my GP.

Today I called and the GP is on vacation. Called back to the gastro and
asked to speak to the office manager. I asked their policy on filing short
term disability claim, to this I get, "oh just send the forms over and we
will have your doctor or PA fill them out". I explained my situation with my
doctor and was asked if he could call me back so he could investigate. When
he calls back he informs me that my disability wasn't due to the hep c or
tx. I am floored. I don't know what to do or where to turn!

To top this off, my room mate informs me this morning, while at work, that
he will be moving out this weekend. I've been so stressed with the crap that
has been happening at work lately that and my room mates issues that this
news just pushed me right over the edge. I grabbed my purse, and told the
doctor I had to leave.

I thought inquiring about when I might expect to get reimbursed for the
weeks I took off might take the stress level off....but nooooo!

I feel like I've been sucker punched. My emotions are off the charts and I
can't seem to figure out where or who I should call to get help with
resolving this issue with my gastro. I can't believe he would write a letter
saying all the problems I was having with regards to tx. And then turn
around and say my reasons for taking time off had nothing to do with the
hcv. The office manager did say they recommended me contacting my pdoc to
see if he will fill out the forms. So, the extreme exhausting, joint pain
and other numerous problems I had while on tx were all in my head?

Any ideas, suggestions....am I that crazy that I don't even realize it?

I don't know Sara...I am numb. I just can't believe that the gastro wrote
that letter outlining my issues with the tx and then turn around and say it
had nothing to do with the tx. Do you really think a lawyer would help? I am
thinking state board of medical examiners. Thanks for the input.

How you holding up there kiddo?

Yes!  I agree with Sara....get yourself an attorney that handles alot of
labor relations cases.  You have other issues he can help you with too,
namely the way your office handled the numerous needle sticks you
suffered.  AND call the state board.
Your roommate moving out is the best thaing that's ever happened to you.
You don't need that crackhead.  Get yourself another roommate, one
that's as normal as you are.  :-)  Did he sign the lease too?

Hey, I'm cooking burgers on the grill tonight....you wanna come over and
have  one with me?  You can bring the buns.  :-)

Aw Dort this sucks.  After a year of fighting for my own disability $$ the
gov has ordered me to have my memory examined. f.ck.  I suppose their view
is that if one has a memory one is not disabled.   It's got to be the last
possible obstacle they can erect in my path - before they deny my claim
for the second time and force me to hire an attorney.  Where is my
bulldozer?

You got my heart, lady. Hang in there.

This is all bullshit dort.  I would remind all involved of the ADA laws;
and find a lawyer with ADA experience.
