I didn't think that crap was working. Now I find that it's no better than a
plecebo for my OA in the knees.

Damn it.

And I can tell you that my knees are getting worse. Much worse.

Does anyone have problems with thier knees? What do you do about it?

OMG! It's my biggest problem, the pain is relentless and nothing seems to
help. When I first started treatment it hit pretty hard and elevating my
legs seemed to help. It eased up for a while and I was doing fairly well.
Now the past couple of weeks my knees kill me and my right hip...oh and my
back and neck. I had a meltdown at work Thursday afternoon and called in
sick on Friday. My room mate who works with me came home with all these
goodies my co workers got for me. Included were a couple boxes of arthritis
patches. I tried one on one knee just to see and it worked!  I now have them
on both knees and my neck and they are soothing. I don't know if there are
issues with what's in them. The active ingredient in the Absorbine Jr. patch
is menthol 4.0%, the Well Patch has methyl salicylate 10%...I haven't tried
those yet.

Hope this helps....

Hey dortski,

My neck, back, and right hip are bad as well.

I heard that doing leg lifts on your back is supposed to streaghthen the
muscles that support the knees.

What brand of patch are you using?

When I was on tx I took Advil and Valium for the knees, legs, neck, back
and so on. It did wonders and really helped with the pain.

If you read the study, you will see that in moderate to mild arthritis of
the knee, of subjects taking the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin
(you nearly never see them packaged separately), 79%reported substantial
relief from pain.

I've had great success with my arthritis.  Before, when I was on Vioxx, I
couldn't walk up and down stairs without supporting my weight on the
banisters.  After 6 weeks on GC, I was able to run up and down those stairs.
No, it isn't in my head.

I do know it doesn't work for everyone, however.  But it does work for many.

Correction to previous post:  The study found 79% found relief from moderate
to SEVERE arthritis.

One thing everyone should be careful about is what you read into the study.
Headlines can be misleading.  Ask yourself, who is funding the research, and
who would benefit from whatever result is stated.

Everyone on the planet it seems is running out to buy statin drugs for high
cholesterol.  The studies say they lower serum cholesterol, which they do.
But read the fine print:  NONE of them is effective at all in preventing a
first heart attack!!!

On the other hand, Omega 3 oils have been shown to prevent first heart
attacks, yet they apparently don't lower serum cholesterol.  What's more, we
have thousands of years and hundreds of millions of people taking this oil
(the oil in fish) with no known side effects.  Omega 3 in capsule form is
very cheap, and it works.

Hint: you don't see that information in any study funded by the drug
industry, do you?
