Hey everyone,

I had my appoitment yesterday with my RN. My VL was at 10.5 mil. Holy cow.
When I started my first tx it was only 1.5 mil.

I've heard that people with really high VL may have less of a chance
clearing the virus.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Don't despair!  Your viral load is just outside what's considered the
medium range (2-10 million).  Viral load fluctuates, so you may have
been tested when it was running on the high side, for you.  My opinion
is that it would be worth considering doing daily Infergen for a month
or so, in your case, to get your viral load as low as possible early on
in your tx, then switch over to Peglyated interferon if and when things
start to get a little 'hairy'.

Listen to the Doc!  My vl fluctuated over 3 months from ranges of
52,000 to 535 to over a million.  I really don't understand why there
are such fluctuations but I am sure someone can explain it to you.

It's the ebb and flow of battle between an immune system that just won't
ignore the virus and a virus that can mutate to elude the immune system. If
the immune system is winning this week, next week the virus will mutate,
regain numbers, and once *it* is winning it will drift back to its original
coding.

Considering the virus can replicate a trillion copies of itself in a single
day, an order of magnitude change in VL between any two tests probably
shouldn't be something to be alarmed about...

Cheers

Interesting, I only took immunosuppresants for about 2 weeks after my
transplant. I do have days of extreme brain fog and fatigue. But my last
blood/liver workup looked pretty good! ( no RNA test was ordered though)
