Greetings,

I'm supposed to start my second round starting on Friday. I was perscribed
the Redi-pen injections, but my insurance company refuses to pay for it and
switched me to Peg. "WTF!" I thought. I contacted my RN (Whom I trust a
great deal) and she stated that since I did responde the first few months
that I still have a good chance with Peg doing the 11 months.

Are the Redi pens that expensive? Should I be concerned about this? Do I
have a better chance wiht the manufacture of the Redi-pens than the Peg? Or
is it basically the same Interferon just manufacturered by diffrent
companies?

It is basically what you say, same stuff different brand names.
Personally, I think you are better off with peg than redipens.  I know
someone who had reliability problems with the redipens and had to get
a batch exchanged.  Sounds easy but she was messed around a lot by her
hospital.  She even had to get some spares in case the pen went tits
up.
This may not be true over a larger number of pens but having the
hassle of making exchanges while already suffering from side effects
can get pretty difficult.
At least with the pre-filled syringes of peg there is less to go
wrong.

Whether it's delivered via a Redi-Pen or a classic syringe + sharp, it's going
to be Pegylated Interferon of one type or another. It isn't obvious what your
insurance company is on about the cost, as they are comparing a drug with a
delivery system, so claiming they switched you "to Peg" doesn't make much
sense...

Hi Puckertoe,
During my tx, I used both the u-mix - syringe method, and the Redi-pens.
I preferred the u-mix and shoot method as it gave me more of a sense of
control over what was and about to, happen.  It seems the half dozen
Redi-pens I used may have be more prone to mistake, in my hands anyway.  I
think that you would be getting the Pegintron (Pegitron) only in the
assembly before using style.  It is cheaper, I thiink judging from what
you've said.  The other type is Pegasys, and may not be what's required.

keeper going, man
