Thip - 25 Jan 2006 00:57 GMT And didn't bother buying any more. Ironically, the nurse from my insurance company called this afternoon (what a sweetheart she is!) and reiterated the fact that I will HAVE to quit. No ifs, ands, or buts.
I fully expect to be snapping and snarling and foaming at the mouth by this time tomorrow night.
Cactus Jammies - 25 Jan 2006 01:00 GMT Good luck with the withdrawl, Thip. Hopefully it shouldn't last more than a few days. Its the compulsive - gratification part that can be pretty tough. But you can do it.

I have some patches and some Commit lozenges so hopefully the physical part won't be too bad--that's what always did me in before.

Hang in there, much weaker people than you have done it, Steve

OpenBookman - 25 Jan 2006 07:03 GMT I'm going to have to hold onto those thoughts. I start my treatment in about three weeks, I have been given the word, "Knock em off, you can't breath now" Plus I know they will make me sick as hell on top of the meds., I have a chronic bad gut already, but I am such a Total Addict. I've given up booze, I've given up drugs, got wise with the food and lost 100 pounds. THEY want it all......sh.t, pass the patches please, those suckers are more expensive than the cigarettes.

Wish I had all the money I'm supposed to have once I quit. Still broke, and I quit when they went just over a $12 a carton.

I came to within inches of driving in the side rails! One of my co-workers (a very sweet lady) woke up in the middle of the night went to the kitchen got chefs knife, a big one!, and tried to murder her sleeping husband!!! That's just a couple of examples.

Thip....just keep reminding yourself, "I don't do that anymore"....drink a big glass of water and pop a lozenge. You will be surprised how easy it is with a little effort. Just remember....every time you get an urge or face a trigger tell yourself "I don't do that anymore"!
I have all the faith in the world in your ability to do this! I am right behind you!

To add insult to injury, I came home to discover my daughter had broken her bedroom windows "knocking" on it to shut the dogs up. I just about went into orbit.
Thip reminding herself: I can do this!
kjoh - 27 Jan 2006 00:50 GMT Well Thipster look at it this way, a broken window don't amount to squat in the big picture. Put up a garbage bag and some duct tape and forget about it.
What I'm really worried about is that broken nosepicker fingernail and you might get your finger stuck up there! How would you explain that to the transplant team!?
So how many straws you chewed up so far? kj

And I have an appointment to get this nail fixed so I can pick my nose again, thank heavens.
I know the window doesn't matter all that much in the grand scheme of things. I just didn't need the expense right now, so I told her from now on to beat on the wall next to the window. I can fix those holes. I don't do windows.

"Quitting tobacco is the easiest thing I've ever done, did it hundreds of times". or something to that affect.
gee all this talk about smokes makes me want to go out to the garage and have one.

I gave away the last little bit of MJ I had yesterday as I realize I there is no way I could just get away with that side of things and not totally relapse back into the smoking lark. Never mind. It will be nice to see what sort of person I am, free of all legal and not so legal narcotics.

Best of luck to you Lu Tze, it seems the more I try to get away from all meds the more that happens to put me on even more of them.

Both bone idle around the house and the frustration of having to get them to even bring crockery down from their rooms is hard enough without trying to get them to empty the dishwasher or help in other ways around the house and the thought of them getting a job, well that truly would be a miracle. I sometimes feel like tearing my hair out, but now have to try and chill without chemical intervention. But then I think back to when I was their age and......well, was I so different. I guess parents just have to be hypocrites and get on with nagging them into action. But they will not drive me back to cigarettes now.

Just read through all of this thread....to those who are in the process of quitting....keep up the fight, you are doing the number one best thing for your overall health! Try every little trick you can think of to make the process bearable. I just thought of this...maybe it's been suggested before. Use your ashtrays to place the money you normally would spend on smokes. Then reward yourself with it when you really need to fight the urge and buy something other than cigarettes.....?
Keep up the good fight you use to be smokers who can now call themselves non smokers! That's kind of cool in itself actually. Keep that proud thought in your head, "I am a non smoker!" It's a nice lable to loose!
