A quick search also turns up

http://www.drugs.com/PDR/Alinia_for_Oral_Suspension.html

The same drug used for anti-parasitic action.

I am skeptical.

Which is always good, but in this case there seems to be something real
behind it. I don't have the slightest idea whether the mechanism that is
involved in Alinia killing Giardia and Cryptosporidium (this whole PFOR
business is quite a bit over my head) also plays a role in replication
of HCV and HBV, or if it's a different pathway. But it seems to
influence the operation of certain enzymes, and enzymes are needed by
viruses to replicate. If it's just the right enzyme, it could work.
