Arclight - 21 Dec 2005 15:47 GMT When I can't post about Christmas without some over-inflated egotist telling me he's fed up with my religious posts I know I'm in the Twilight zone.
There is really only a handful of people here that post and most of them have said in no uncertain terms it's their way or no way.
Fine...
This board isn't my life....I just think you're over-reaction to Christmas is childish and insincere. Just another excuse to bash Christians.
So sad...Hypocrisy in this group is astounding. You all act like you're the biggest bunch of Liberals when really you lean more toward Facism.
Paul................out!
ps. Now take the opportunity to say what a lousy Christian I am..
Wow, just wow.

I'm sorry you put it like this.
I have nothing against you.
It's just all this mess here lately. I mean I have nothing against religion this time more than against any other argument that show itself to be... causing problems more than good.
I hope you'll try to understand my point.
I'm really sorry that my comments hurted you.
Take care, jeeb.

Ray - 21 Dec 2005 21:20 GMT I don't want you to leave! It's such a shame that there are so many hurtful, hateful, people but unfortunately this is what our world has gotten to! They hated Jesus when he was in human form too so you are in excellent company! Remember that they couldn't get anything against Jesus so they lied and made things up about him or took his words and twisted them. Does any of this sound familiar with what they have been doing to you and several other folks around here including me?
Remember that Jesus said that lies were their native tongue and that their father was the father of lies? Please don't leave the group! If this group needs anything, it needs sane caring Christian men like you who boldly proclaim the truth rather than go with what happens to be the politically correct thing to say du jour. What you may not have thought of is that there very well may be someone who has been reading these posts but hasn't responded who is reading something that is really helpful and offers hope to them. If you leave the group that hope may well die.
Please reconsider your decision?

Arclight - 21 Dec 2005 22:48 GMT Yeah, took the afternoon to think about whats happened here the last few days.... Without going into detail it is to be expected when you mention Jesus.
I knew that, not sure why I forgot it.. :)
It's not me they are mad at.....
My goal is to not let my chain be yanked so easily.... :) Shall we call it a Early New Years resolution?
Thanks Ray and Doug...bless ya both.

> It's not me they are mad at..... Um, well, yes it is. Odd as it sounds, all us Christians and Buddhists and atheists and whatever else get along just fine because no one feels that their mission is to proclaim their faith and offer religious platitudes to others.

I see Buddhas around different places. I didn't realise that some forms of Buddhism weren't into that. You're not missing much regarding cars. For me they (vans rather than cars) are just essential business tool as I would struggle to cycle around with a 500 litre water tank attached to the back and a sidecar with telescopic poles. I don't like what they do to the environment and, in the mid to long term, they're not sustainable anyway. Oil supply will see to that. Fortunate really that the oil will run dry within 50 years (maybe less). At least it means that this planet will still be able to sustain life.

When it's done, there is so much smoke you can't see one foot in front of yourself. During the week long festival, called Fallas, all you hear are firecrackers, all day and night. But, other than that, a very interesting festival (thanks for the link). It got me to thinking that we could have our own version of Fallas right here on ash-c. I haven't worked out the details yet, but we certainly have a few ninots hanging around lately that could be put to good use.

I'm pretty new to this group too. I've found that mostly this group is very good at being supportive, and they are walking encyclopedias when it comes to Hep-C. It's kinda like a big family here -- weird uncles and cousins included :)
Basically, they are all as human as you and me, and their human weaknesses are very obvious sometimes. But their superhuman strengths show up too -- I just hope I handle TX with half as much courage and grace as these folks have.
Above all, they are a very caring and giving bunch of people. I am very glad I found this group.

We sometimes squabble amongst ourselves but, when the chips are really down, we support each other regardless. Funnily enough, I'm sure there is some good material here for a soap opera. Trouble is, it would come under the "fiction" heading as a lot of it seems hard to believe.

> You sit there every Sunday with > your bible in your hand and you might as well be holding a dictionary [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > Listen nitwit I don't sit there every Sunday but I guess that makes you > a great Christian. Arclight - 29 Dec 2005 14:24 GMT Ray: It's ignorance of the truth is bliss. I mean that in ALL things, not just Christianity.
But sticking to the issue. People who lump all Christians into one basket obviously don't understand our Faith. People equate Christianity with organized religion. Which for the most part throughout History has had a less than stellar record. Like most organized religions they have been used by power hungry people to bring control to others through the intimidation of religious values. But again, that is not true Christianity. Jesus preached most of His sermons outside, on hill tops, in vallerys, on sea shores. Not in beautifully structured buildings. Why? Because He was "outside" the organized religion of the day. No one confused Jesus with being a Pharisee..(religious leader of the day).
We all know no one is perfect. Christians who know their faith profess their weakness more than most. But the "pre" conceived idea of people who don't understand is, they think we act superior to everyone else. Again, they judge ALL Christians according to main-stream organized religion.
A catch phrase I've use is, Christianity is about relationship, not religion. It's true.
No matter how you bring forth encouragment and help, some will always feel you are lording it over them. Its not really their fault. All they get is CNN reporting on wonky religions all the time..Or they hear or read about a so-called Christian falling from grace. They lump everyone into that ship and set it adrift.
Ray, you know your own heart, as do I. No one can tell you different. "To thine ownself be true". Stick to your convictions and don't worry about those who really don't understand your faith.
We're in a battle constantly in this life....Everyday we have to 'choose' to believe and walk according to our faith. We are not perfect nor are we trying to be. We're just in love with One who is. Jesus is the origional Hippie: Peace, Love, forgiveness... We strive to be like Him.
Blessings your way Ray.. (hey, that rymes) :))

Yes, it is about relationship. If you knew the New Testament you would understand that statement. It is only for lack of knowledge that you even question it.
Religion and i'ts leaders killed Jesus. The only time it's mentioned in the Bible where Jesus got "angry" was at Religious leaders..Ref: Turning over the money changers tables in the Temple.
Again Cody, I know where you are coming from, but please don't assume you know everything about Christianity......I certainly don't.
I by no means say I'm better than all forms of organized Christianity..You said that. I said, I'm of a different road. One not based on rules, but Grace. One based on relationship not "religion"....

I correct you. The New Testament other than the 4 gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John..are epistles..Basically letters written from one to another. Like Paul's letter to the Ephesians...It's a book in the New Testament, but it was a letter back in the day.
You see Church as we know it today wasn't the way it was in the first century believers life. They met in each others houses. They had names like, "the church that meets in Paul's house"..etc, . They would get together and have "celebrations" but generally it was small tight communities of believers meeting in houses. Much like the present day church in China.
Church: What does it really mean? Church is a term origionally meant to mean, "The body of Christ". Anyone who believed in Christ Jesus was a part of that "body". That is why we call Him the "head" of the church. The teaching about body ministrie is that every member has a part to play. Fingers, eyes, mouth, nose..we all need each other.
