ghibelno - 28 Oct 2005 16:17 GMT Hi all, one month after the last ribavirin pill I had a lab test to check for blood level as I suffered from anemia during treatment.
All blood levels are now in the lower side of normal range (hgb: 14, WBC: 6, RBC: 4.4). Besides, ALT is in the range and this is just another good thing.
I needed this, you all know what it means to feel like as you're climbing the Everest mountain while you're just trying to go up some stairs to reach your office in the morning ;)
In spite of this I still have bad time during the night. I can't sleep well and I am suffering from this during the daytime.
Take care you all.
Cheers, jeeb.
Gordo Mondragon - 28 Oct 2005 18:31 GMT Getting my sleep back to normal took me a couple of months. I finally did go back to a normal, all-night sleep pattern.
Glad you're feeling better and your numbers are good.

That's excellent, jeeb. I've been following a very similar course of recovery, and within 3 weeks of the last Riba caps I had made it back into the normal range on all but a sllighty elevated MCV (reds were still just a bit on the fat side of normal).
And boy does it feel great not to be dragging that anemia around any more!!
Cheers - and best wishes for your SVR!

Canadave - 29 Oct 2005 02:30 GMT Has anyone continued the EPO and/or Neupogen AFTER Tx, or does it all just come back that quickly on it's own?

A week later and my HGB had made it to 12.4 - almost in the normal range for males - after languishing in the 9's for 9 months.
Results may vary, of course...

Cheers /greyhackles ////////// My NP monitored my red counts closely while I was taking Procrit, not only to make sure it didn't creep even lower, but in case it came back up into the normal range so I could discontinue taking it. She mentioned that to continue taking Procrit when you don't need it anymore could be dangerous.....stroke or heart attack...something along those lines. elmo

I'm still taking Ambien to help with sleep, and will admit at this point, that I'm addicted to them. I can't sleep without them. I will at some point have to talk to the doctor about this, as I don't want to spend my life depending on sleeping pills.

Red Dwarf - 30 Oct 2005 00:59 GMT Hi Michael and Jeeb, I'm glad your labs are back to normal Jeeb, as anemia sucks. Last year I had a serious hemorrhage, and nearly bled to death, I was rushed to hospital, as I was on coumadin(blood thinner to prevent clots), and thereafter had anemia for weeks, and I never felt so weak in my life. Just two or three steps and I was exhausted and out of breath.Scary stuff man, so I know where you are coming from. Hope it's all better. Michael, about this Ambien, you are not alone, and you must look out for memory loss, and doing things you may regret later. One can and does build up a tolerance to the drug, then it's common to increase the dosage, as I did to 11/2 per evening. The problem is that.....well let me give you an example. Last night I took Ambien as well as a Xanax to insure sleep. Apparently I got up around 4 or 5 a.m. to have a bowl of cereal, and then I woke up on the chair in front of the TV at noon on Saturday. My back ached as well as some other places and I felt like a fool, as I have a nice clean cozy bed waiting for me, who the hell wants to go to bed at noon on a nice Saturday? Me that's who! So I've just gotta watch that. Even worse, last week I took the same thing and was about to go to bed, and my phone rang, and the gal 2 houses down wanted me to come over for a while to talk and do a doobie. That sounded good to me, but I had forgotten I've just had Xanax and Ambien, and after about 1/2 hour I kept nodding out on her, which pissed both of us off. Somehow I made it home, and literally passed out in my living room. We must be careful with this stuff, especially me, as I also take pain killing meds as well. It's bad enough taking and being hooked on narcos, but with the Ambien and Xanax together, it's look out baby, I'm looking for a place to lay my head down. I'm concerned about the same thing as you Mike, I don't want to be hooked on all this crap. On the other hand, it's nice to be able to sleep soundly, but I do wake up drowsy and with no memory of the previous evenings activities. I'm still getting used to my medications. I have a funny feeling that somehow I'm making up for the lack of weed, and tend to over medicate myself when there is no weed access, or the money to buy some when it's around. When I do have weed, I do not need all of this crap to sleep or relax. A very sleepy John in Honolulu (might as well be in Atlantic City) Good luck guys.

WOW.. Thats not happened to ME yet...
> We must > be careful with this stuff, especially me, as I also take pain killing meds > as well. Me too. My L3 and L4 disks in my back are herniated, and because of that I'm taking 10mg. Oxycontin's (3 at a time) to control the pain. My doctor TOLD me I'd probably become addicted to them, and we would have to address that at a later date, perhaps putting me on Fentanol (sp?) patches to control the back pain or something like that. But, I KNOW I'm definitely addicted to the Ambien, I just can't sleep without them. Even WITH weed. However, I love them, as I sleep well, and wake up feeling refreshed. NO grogginess or hang over what so ever.

You take care too John. HOPEFULLY we're taking care of business, and fixing our problems for good so that we'll never have to do this again.
