I am really having a problem with Monday's.  I don't know if its because I
rest all weekend then I have to spring into action to get to work but I have
my worst time 72 hrs after my shot.  I get extremely dizzy, light headed and
cannot stand.  I cannot think and my eyes feel like they are being pulled
back into their sockets.  My head aches and my face feels fuzzy.  My pupils
dilate like I have had eye drops put in them.  Constant diarrhea.  Anyone
else notice tthis?
Today I feel 50% better and I will climb each day until Friday to start this
all over.
Another thing that I did was go to bed at 6 and missed my 3 pill dosage.  I
woke at 3am with a start and immediately took my riba and then this mornings
pills at 1pm and will take tonights at midnight.  Will this comprimise my
recovery?

I used to do my weekly shots on Friday evening no later than 6pm.  About
the time I'd start feeling the shot, I'd head for bed (usually around
10pm, or so).  On Pegasys, my worst time of it was Sunday evening.
Mondays were no piece of cake. Tuesdays were a bit better.... and Friday
was ok.  :-)  (sung to the tune of Stormy Monday)

I think its all about which tx you take pegasys  a or b.  Does that make
sense to you?  I find Fridays are blissful compared to Monday's. I did start
taking my shot at 6 and playing poker until 10 but I started to lose it by
9ish.  I am going to enjoy my sober Friday night and shot up at 10:30 lol.
I am so glad that we have lots of holidays coming up on Mondays.  I will try
a few more then book them off sick as I am a zombie!

Mags, is a or b pertinent to the genotype of HCV you have or something
else?

Thanks.
mags - 27 Oct 2005 17:11 GMT
See greyhackles reply - I am not versed enough to explain it.  I just get
tidbits from BCLD.  It is to do with the meds not the geno type.

The one I am on  2b is the most abrupt treatment - why my doc chose it.
Likes to hit the virus hard and knock it for a loop.  Should know in 2 weeks
what it knocked out - me or the virus lol.

Hey mags. How do you know if it's a or b? Damn, there's nothing on the box?
I want my money back!  ;}

Hang in there, sweetie. You'll make it. I can tell by your strong personality.

Peg-Intron (Schering) is IFN Alpha-2b, using small Peg molecule
Pegasys    (Roche)    is IFN Alpha-2a, using large Peg molecule

It is said Peg-Intron is the real ass-kicker early in therapy, compared to
Pegasys. I can testify as to Peg-Intron's ass-kicking quotient, but not having
done both, I can't compare the two.

Roche claims slightly better SVR rates, but the first respectable head-to-head
trials only got started in the last year.

Cheers

Hi Mags, Grey, others.  I got my a.s kicked for weeks, if not months, by
Roche's 2a Pegasys.  I had pre-existings, though, hypothyroid, insomnia,
depression...
My liver has been feeling fullish and twitchy since the beginning of tx.
It's in pretty good shape, though (at least it was before tx). My liver
enzymes went a couple digits above the normal range after tx started.  My
take on it is that the meds are working my liver overtime and I can sense
it in that area under my ribs.  I also "feel" that inflammation throughout
my whole digestive system has decreased (biopsy was grade 2 inflamm/stage 1
fibro) My doc is unconcerned about my twitches and liver enzymes.

I'm feeling alright these days.  Still an emotional storm, but I'm getting
some things done.  Feels good after being not-very-functional for so long.
I went on a walkabout by the river yesterday with a digital camera.  I'm
putting a photobucket together.  Stay tuned.

You're impressing me, Mags, Rock. What happened to Dortski?  Wonder if Old
Pirate got wet?  A little worried about that...Mary Ann is OK.  She's in
the desert.

Can't wait for the pictures Kathy.  How long before you could function??
That will be a relief.

Basically I always feel like I have the flu.  I take my shot Friday and feel
different within 3 hrs and still functionable but by Monday I am a zombie. I
climb out Tuesday back to the fluish feeling and today (Thursday) feel
pretty good.  I would say I am a mess only on Mondays. (so far but I will
keep you posted)

After about the first month, month and a half, about 2-4 hours after
doing the shot I'd just be blazing.  Emotional rollercoaster (I learned
to just not talk to anybody) and an intense speediness and almost
hallucinogenic visuals.  Once I knew what it was I kind of enjoyed it.

Thanks Doug.  Once you figure this out and know what to expect at least you
can deal with it.  I have come to the conculsion that this is a battle of
your will.  My desire to get better far outweighs the sides  (okay its close
:)  )

I had a very similar weekly cycle of misery until I got to the seventh month
of treatment.  After that I never seem to rebound at all.  Every day was a
real challenge and I found that I had to stop doing everything.
Was told to eliminate ALL stress, stay at home, eat the best I could, and
just focus on getting through the day.  Nothing else really mattered to me
except completing treatment!
I managed to get through the 48 weeks and I am now Hep C free (9 months post
treatment).
Kill that Dragon baby!
You can do it!!
