Thank you greyhackles and jeeb for the replies. I tried to get the first
one replaced and they would not give me another. It realy upsets me when
shot day goes bad. The nurse told me it's no biggie. She is very nice, but I
am not sure I belive her. I just missed a whole day of the pills because of
Hurrican Rita. I was to go get new meds on Monday, but they had me wait till
Wendsday. I did not show neg till week 23 I think. I am on the research
trial by Roche "Peginterferon alfa-2a" and the pills are "Copegus
(Ribavirin"

Well, I can see why you might not want to rock the boat, but next time you see
the nurse, ask her how valid the study results will be if the cohort is
missing doses...
Even Pegylated forms of IFN are eventually cleared by the body, and by the
seventh day after a shot, the "trough" for weekly Peg-IFN is down to nearly
immeasurable levels (found in a Product Information Sheet for either Pegasys
or PegIntron - can't remember which).
Thus, missing a weekly dose may well leave one with no meaningful level of IFN
on board for an entire week. I'm no doctor, but for the slow-to-clear, I can't
believe that's a good thing.
Hopefully there won't be any repercussions, but it sure strikes me as a
ridiculous response by that nurse. Compliance is about the *only* thing we can
control during tx, but she doesn't think it's important?

Hello folks. I have mest up 2 injections in the past 27 weeks. The first
one the dam barrel came off the Needle and I lost all of the Interferon
and
just today I had a leak in the needle cap and I got at least half of it
in me I think. I was wondering how mush damage I have done to the
treament program?
I doubt anyone would venture a guess based on that limited data. If
you've been having trouble achieving EVR, missing doses probably isn't
helpful. Otoh,
if you cleared early and remained clear at week 24, a missed dose might
not be
as problematic.
fwiw, when you dumped the entire load the first time, you should have
used another dose right then and there, and gotten the dumped one
replaced later.
When you blew the half-load, you should have used half a second dose and
gotten that replaced later...

If you call Roche and tell them about the defective injectibles, they'll
make sure you get replacements.
