My rash started at about week 16 (~5 weeks ago) and it's not responding to
topical corticosteroids ( a strong one).  2 questions...

1 - Any suggestions?
2 - Most of my sides have been short-lived or cyclical.  Is this rash likely
to last until the end of treatment (48 wks), or get better before that?

Thanks a lot,

David

I finished the 48 week version of walking hell about 7 weeks ago, and my
rash is just about gone now.  I was using triamcinolone 0.1% cream until a
week ago for lower leg itching.

Yikes.  When did it start, violinguy?

I don't remember exactly, but it did take a while to develop.  My calves are
still dry and flaking......but I did clear at week 12 and am keeping my
fingers crossed for the 6 month post treatment viral load count.

Hi Dave - I've got at least three different tx-related skin things
happening.  One is a few recurring rosacea zits on my face.  For that I
use a clearasil product for adult acne that has sulfur in it.  It has a
drying effect and the sulfur is antibacterial.  Good for spot
applications.  On my chest and shoulders I got the itchy rash.  It's very
photoreactive so not much sun this summer :(  My best advice for that is
dont scratch dont scratch.  Keep it as clean and dry as possible.
Ointments and sweat aggravate it. Oral benadryl for that when it's
unbearable, but I hate the sides from that. The other thing is probably a
yeast thing - irregular raised pink bumps that don't itch.  I put the
clearasil on those too because yeast doesnt like sulfur.  In my
experience, eating hard, saturated, hydrogenated, trans, or otherwise
*altered* fats aggravates the rosacea and possibly the itchies.  Stick to
olive oil if you can. Eating alot of sugar always aggravates yeast
(candida) infections. Hope this helps,
Kathy

Thanks Kathy.  Are your itchies related to tx or the HepC?  If the tx, when
did it start and how long has it lasted?  Have you seen a dermatologist?

TRYING not to scratch,

David

Thanks a lot, Kathy.  Are your itchys tx-related or HepC-related?  If
related to tx, when did it start and where are you now?  Have you seen a
dermatologist?

It could be pruritus (not sure about the spelling) I had that so bad I
ate so much benadrll I was rolling around the floor like a cat trying to
get poison ivy out of him. If your doc is an idiot like most are, try
taking cold showers and using baby oil.     bk

She is all that I have left, and music is her name.

Dave,
I have and am still using Ketoconzole cream 2% and I get the 60 gram tube.
It for the rash on my chest that acts allot like poison ivy. It itches like
hell and when you scratch it, seems to spread. It also drains or produces
water coming from the rash when it is flared up. When the cream starts to
dry it up it turns red and the red spot starts to decrease in size.

The Ketoconzole cream really helps keep it to a minimum!!!!!!!!  Try it,
don't like it send it too me Ill use it.  lol   buster

Like Kathy I had a problem with the red bumps also (but it was on arms and
legs and the cream doesn't do anything for it except help the itch). The red
bumps left some scaring from two years ago.

I recommend you at least try the cream as its living hell if you don't keep
it under control. I had also tried the cortisone creams and Benadryl's but
to no avail. I also started taken itching pills to dry things up but haven't
had to use it since the first 48 weeks.  Good luck Kanook!   buster

I hope Kathy doesn't mind but the itching and rashes as I understand is
mainly cause by the rivabarin.

All I can say is out of personal experience.  It got better. But then
popped up in a different area and started all over again.

That sounds like something I'm dealing with. I got a script for a cream of
clotrimazole and betamethasone. It does the trick, but as soon as one spot
is dealt with another one pops up!
